Sassy, I know how that can be when the old catch-phrases come sailing out of someone elses mouth especially those not affiliated. It would stop me for a moment and I would think 'Could they have knowledge of the troof or are they baiting me', etc. And then I would come back out of my thoughts and resume.

But, yes, it's something that is imbedded in us, which does make us unique, I suppose, to anyone not going through what we have. I will purposely use the old catch phrases as a means to delute them and render those phrases as a generic thing that has common meaning. Forget about those aliens!

Anyway, are their any JW sites around anymore? I haven't really been paying attention since purelanguage.com, greatcrowd.com, jwzone.com and others I can't think of went belly up. I give them all about 6 months before they get destroyed one way or the other.

BluesBrother: A quick quip regarding East Germany. Having friends with relatives on the other side of the wall in those days, I was told that the new freedoms are sometimes too much to handle and some go way overboard. Others might be used to the old way and are slower to adapt. Peoples are just peoples I suppose...

I've come to develope a hate for certain JW terms, such as "The Truth", and the word "Theocratic".

Oh...you put into words exactly what I was thinking just a few days ago when I was at a gathering 95% JW. The way they toss around the word "truth" describing themselves is nauseating to say the least.

At the gathering I was at one JW relative talked of how their involved in some type of literacy program and their books of choice....WT literature. Instead of talking about how much progress their literacy students were making in learning to read all they talked about was how much progress they were making in the "trOOf". I was appalled. Ethical standards are beyond these JW's comprehension when it comes to recruiting.

My parents are still JW's although my mum has not attended meetings for a while. I am very careful never to refer to it as the 'truth' anymore and tend to refer to it as meetings or the hall - as in - 'is xxxxx still going to the hall? My dad who is still attending still refers to it as the truth.

I think it would be quite easy to slip back into that lingo if you were not careful.

yes Slippy some are still around... WOL of course is gone.. the Zone was moved to a new URL, greatcrowd is gone but the owner has a new site at foreverfriends.us I know part the staff at purelanguage split and there was a post a long time ago about that site but I forget where it is now. I am no longer a member of any of them

The other day when Bush gave a speech, he used the term "peace and security" at least 2 times and then used "security and peace" at least once. I didn't hear the whole speech so I can only list the times I heard it. Yes, it triggers an "oh no" in me to this day.
