Well, Mac, I hope you were a young boy at the time. Otherwise we might have to register you with the sex offenders site.

That brothers couldn't wear necklaces. To hell with that. I let my son wear them anyway. Also that things could be demonized. You don't even wanna know our horror story with that one.

I didn't understand why they didn't let us burn our bras.

  • Not to ask "what do you think about that?", but say instead "how do you feel about that?".
  • That's a good one because while I was in the org and for along time after, the two things I felt most often were fear and anger. I wonder how many others "felt the same way"?

I was told not to wear a nit tie.

Not to say "bless you" when someone sneezes . . . it was superstitious or something.

    Not to wear make up . . . whoops, I meant . . .

not to wrestle . . . ? geez. The brother I studied with at 15 saw me and his son in the backyard horseplaying. I was teaching him how to roll and toss a guy like you see indians do in the movies. He asked, "what are you doing?" I said, showing Michael how to flip someone (Michael was having the time of his life, prolly for the first time ever). He then said indignantly, "would Jesus do that?" I said I didn't suppose he would. The the brother says tersely, "well, then you don't do it either!" He then made Michael go do some yard work and sent me home.

Not to pull faces. ( to crack up the people on stage.)

(I destroyed one meeting by doing the hand gestures for a funny joke that was going around, during a demonstration )

Smart man...Do you think he's still there? I doubt it.

    He's still there.

I had to sit in my seat and only my wife was able to take the children out.

    G'day Beaker,

That was part of your punishment - you had to sit there and listen to the meeting!!!

    Cheers, Ozzie

PS regards to catlady and yerself.

I was very keen on doing some hang gliding at the time and I was advised to rethink about buying a hang glider. Come to think of it hang gliding is dangerous it was good advice looking back. Barry

I reckon the "Don't tip your hat to a lady" concept was the most ridiculous thing. Not that I wore a hat very often, but their reasoning was that it was a form of mother goddess worship.

    Er?

Looking back on the UN NGO thing, the whole "Don't play sports in high school" thing looks pretty silly, doesn't it?

    SCUBA Dive.

I was an Instructor, at the time, but since it was such a "dangerous sport", it was going to hinder my appointment as an Elder...
