    Hi AuSet,

I saw the Frontline program last night. 60 Minutes did a similar segment about two months ago.

It's ironic that this type of info cements some support for Bush and further alienates others. It seems to me that the broad concept of separation of church and state would win out in principle that means leave your religion at home.

There's nothing scarier than a religious zealot who goes to war and consults, not his cabinet, but his "higher father." And "suffers no doubt" while, while many--even conservatives--feel the war is a mess and going further downhill. (These ideas are from the new Newsweek magazine outlining Bob Woodward's new book Plan of Attack.)

    Simon,

I get most of my exercise from Jumping to Conclusions and running amok...he he he

Hey, Still can't post new threads...if I'm under punishment, let me know so I quit worrying about it, but when I click to make a new post it shows that I'm still able to make two new threads...but when I click "submit" it comes up saying "error" system problem? Head space and timing error?

My own faith, despite being a-christian (as in lack of concrete Christian dogmatic beliefs) seems to be parallel to W's - the kind of inner spirituality, the strength that comes from somewhere outside the universe but pours into your soul. The confidence that if we do what is before us, it will all work out in the long run.

    W!

I agree with that post. Bush is leading the world in to anarchy...The rest about free world and Democracy it is just rubbish...

And it is about time that citizens of the world start to ASK SERIOUS QUESTIONS to their Goverments !!!

Patio, thanks for posting the article. Its good to see the media finally starting to come around and do some real reporting. It seems like for so long, after 9/11, everyone suddenly had this idea that we need to be united, don't criticize the administration about anything, etc. Very un-democratic.

Yeru: its a wonderful thing to have many diverse opinions on the board! Its always best to get both sides of the story, which is why I try to read a lot of conservative editorials and such as well, to balance things out. I may not agree with them all the time, but more knowledge never hurt nothin' !

    It's wonderful isn't is?

Here we see the religious right-wingers springing to the defence of their beloved USA.

Pity not one of them can counter the FACT that in surveys, 36% of Americans say they believe that the modern state of Israel is part of the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy relating to the second coming (Pew).

And ThiCHi, as Simon pointed out, the use of Crusader by Al-Q et.al postdates the idiot-in-chief using it; if your facts are wrong your opinion is likely to be wrong too.

As the right can't change facts (or don't even know them), rather than actually addressing the problem they try to deny there is one, or use other red herring techniques to protect their precious (and often ill-informed) world view.

    Czar, I think a better slogan would be;

"Bush lied or was an incompetant dolt, invaded hastily on pretexts without the due process expected by the majority of the International Community, alienated allies, failed to plan properly for occupation, and is now in a long term occupation where sadly, American soldiers will die every day.... but some American's are quite happy as long as there isn't a democrat in the White House."

It might not be snappy, but at least it's true...

So, red herrings from right-wingers aside, what do people feel about a third of American's believing what they do?

"Bush lied or was an incompetant dolt, Not everyone believes that, in fact most people don't. He neither lied, nor is he incompetent, you just disagree with his policy. invaded hastily yep, it only took 12 years of Saddam violating the Cease Fire agreement. on pretexts of the violation of the Cease Fire Agreement without the due process expected by the majority of the International Community,Like France and Russia who were on the Saddam money train...big deal alienated allies, like France and Russia who were on the Saddam money train. failed to plan properly for occupation, I agree with this statement...and is now in a long term occupation if anyone thought it WASN'T going to be long term, they were foolish. where sadly, American soldiers will die every day a sad but true fact..... but some American's are quite happy as long as there isn't a democrat in the White House."Other American's, like myself, realize that John Kerry would be a disaster for the United States; he'd give us higher taxes, send us worshipping at the altar of the United Nations, and flip flop on every issue depending on the polls...and keep reminding us, daily, that he served in Vietnam and was a war hero (so was Benidict Arnold, Tim McVeigh, etc.)
