Is God Happy?

What do you think? Maybe He/She/It isn't happy now, but can you visualise a happy God? Is the God in your belief or faith system capable of happiness? Is it emotional? Is it possible for an almighty being to have a capacity for emotion while maintaining absolute control over itself?

There are a lot of ways to expand on this question... anyone got any thoughts?

dh, (do you know what that signifies in Oz?)

If you were god, and a supposed loving one at that, would you be happy considering the behaviour that mankind has demonstrated as being done in his name? Methinks not.

cheeses. The happy one, knowing that god is just a sad concept.

The whole subject of God and creation is so confusing to me because of the chaos and pain in the world but one of many things that always throws me and makes me think of God in terms of having created and having a LOT of personality is watching puppies at play, and especially when they are playing with humans.

Why do puppies love to play with us as much as we love playing with them? Why are they so incredibly lovable and funny and sweet?? Where did that come from?

My son constantly brings home puppy stories. He loves dogs and they seem to know this because the instant he walks into their presence, no one else exists to them somehow.

I think "Is" would be a good name for god.

Is it possible for an almighty being to have a capacity for emotion while maintaining absolute control over itself?

I think I have a general concept of god that doesn't really include absolute control. I have a very Taoist view of the Divine Whatever, which as I understand it involves things simply coming to be, without anything like what we would call control. I also don't really see a conflict between emotion and control anyway. I think of emotions as non-verbal information that comes through in your body. Emotions are very physical anyway, would an almighty being have something like a body? Also, if an almighty being was omniscient then it wouldn't need emotions. If it's not omniscient, then I guess it's not almighty, right? I don't know, this is not a very coherent post but it's an interesting question, I enjoy thinking about it.

That's a topic that always got me asking questions when I was growing up. And yeah, I know that some parts of the Bible talk about God loving us & having compassion & even being aware if a sparrow falls from the sky, but it always seemed like the part which was really hammered was the part about him being an angry God. I mean, come on ... who got His Holy Knickers in a knot?

And with everything which ahs been done by the likes of Satan & Hitler & that talentless goober on American Idol, do you really think it's ME that has pissed Him off?

Then there's also the stuff about there being no other gods, that He is the one & only. But He's also a jealous God. Why is He jealous if there are no other gods?

It?s interesting how mankind only ?hears? of the hammering of God. Personally, I think it?s more that mankind holds the hammer and not God. And can mankind wield that hammer excellently. Funny how when God describes himself few listen. Take a look at Exodus 34:5-7 and see how God describes Himself?not how man describes God. Is God happy? Some accounts say that he is a happy God. Does that answer your question? Consider: 1 Timothy 1:16 or 1 Timothy 6:15 or Psalm 104:31. Inkie
