I think the ozziepost weekend poll is great!

What do you do with the time saved from not going to meetings and Field Service?

Quit simply - A LOT of really fun and interesting things!

    1. Romancing - not enough (what man would ever say 'no hunny' I simply can't do it again! lol). Anyway, with the extra time the potential is there......LOL

    2. Sleeping - yes, especially going to bed early on tuesday, thursday, and sleeping in on saturday and sunday.

    3. Drinking. (shiraz I hope!) - why yes cousin al (thats al kehol) and I are good friends thank you very much.

    4. Reading yes, especially such fine works as COC, ISOCF, Gentile times, etc., and many hours on JWD reading posts. My jw bro recently exclaimed 'i don't know where you get all the time to research and meditate on da troof' - sheesh, he musta forgotten I'M INACTIVE DUDE!

    5. Gardening - nope, green paint wouldn't stick to my thumb.

    6. Working (tut-tut!) - I used to laugh because my job is PERFECT for being an elder, aux pioneer etc cuz of the hours I DON'T have to work LOL

    7. Talking - yes

    8. Posting on JWD - truly a great twist to be here instead of attending a jw meeting somewhere LOL

    9. Watching sport - YES, all those hockey games whatever day and time of the week and NOT TAPED!

    10. Playing sport - not much yet.

    11. Going to church - for boa this is not in the equation.

    12. Going to the movies - prefer to watch most at home, but yes, sometimes.

    13. Going bowling - not my game (yet) however, if watching, the Big Lebowski counts, then YES!

    13. A hobby - yes - restoring an older truck into a rod.

    14. Two hobbies! - sure, see above under 'drinking' lol

    15. Other (Please detail) - Just plain enjoying life NOW in all its beauty.....as my wife used to say - instead of 'sacrificing' all the time for Jehovah, she preferred to 'LIVE' for Jehovah each day.

Thanks again ozzie for these great threads you start....

boa....hmmmmm 1123am sunday mornin.....time for a vodka and oj me thinks lol

I have been a free individual since 1979. I have participated in all of the items on your list. Some no longer apply. Yesterday (Saturday, May 1) I went from door to door! Before you think I've gone and sold myself back into WT bondage, let me explain: I was circulating a petition to get the minimum wage raised from $5.15 per hour to $6.15 per hour in my state. I have not worked at minimum wage, or even close to it, for the past 8 years; but before that, there was some tough going, working at low wages, 2 and 3 jobs to survive.

After leaving the WT, I was married a second time (a pretty good guy overall, but alcoholic and abusive at times, which was not good for my daughter and granddaughter who were living with us at the time), I completed requirements for my bachelor's degree, and I met (and continue to meet) many people from diverse backgrounds with a wealth of ideas and points of view. I can never go back to corraling my mind, numbing it a la Watchtower.

Presently, I am mostly occupied with finding the right arrangements of furniture, art and decor in my condo which I bought a year and a half ago, but is still a work in progress. I am also considering a new housemate, as the previous one moved away. I use the money I collect on rent to invest in retirement.

I am also doing research on economical places to buy property so that I can pay cash for a home when I retire with the proceeds of the sale of my present home. Real estate prices skyrocketed in this area just after I purchased my condo (yes, my luck is changing). If any posters on this forum can help with this search for localities with low-cost property, please let me know.

I am also looking into possible post-retirement employment. I am seriously considering teaching English in Europe, depending on the political stability and possible terrorist activity in the region. In preparation, I am watching the International channel a lot, improving my French and Spanish, and learning a bit of Italian. Unfortunately, the Chinese news gives me no insight into that language. I also am considering furthering my education, possibly in library and information science or computer science.

Of course, I am enjoying being with my daughter and son-in-law and my granddaughter as I never could have as a JW-robot. We enjoy holidays especially and go overboard to make up for lost time. My daughter is set to get a master's degree in Chemistry this year. My granddaughter starts high school, and is looking into pursuing a career in the performing arts. She's a good cellist, but is also interested in dance as a possible career. They are so cool, pursuing their own interests as individuals. I am so grateful that I have them in my life, i.e., that my daughter got out of the WT as well (her dad is still in), and that my granddaughter was never exposed to that bunch of crap.

Here's to the good life. Cheers!

Okay, okay! Princess asked me to complete the poll too!!

    So, what was the question???????

Oh yes, What do you do with the time saved from not going to meetings and Field Service?

In place of the evening meetings I often work, then.......crash!!!! (An Australian expression for collapse)

In place of the field service I sleep, recovering from the work which I did in the time I saved from the meetings. Get it?

Now comes the good bit, in place of the Sunday meeting I go to church then meetup with friends and those who are exiting the Borg. That's the best part of the week. But any part is still........free!!!!!!

    Cheers, Ozzie
