    Johnny Cash song,,,,"Hurt",

FYI, that is a cover of a NIN song...and Johnny said the same thing when he heard Reznor's version...he said it sounded like a song he would have wrote when he was younger.

My favorite Cash track is probably Rusty Cage, but he also covers one of my all time favorite's "I See A Darkness" originally by Bonnie Prince Billy.

    Hi Ladies & Gents:

I enjoyed all your comments, really, and I'm sorry that I haven't the time right now to reply much.

I would like to say though that in case any of you don't know, but would care to know, there is an OFFICIAL Johnny Cash discussion board that YOU can register on and exchange messages with other JC fans. As a matter of fact Johnny's daughter, Kathy, posts there almost daily (as does one of Johnny's grandsons; Kathy's son I believe it is).

    I Walk The Line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine, I walk the line

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

A Thread after my own heart...

    The Man in Black

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

I love Johnny Cash. One of our sons used to lip sync to him all the time, from our records when he was about 5. He played them all the time, and would sit on a stool and play the air guitar. He still likes him. (38 now)

Schizm, I come from 3 generations of authentic country and bluegrass musicians. All self-taught, and all extremely talented. What the hell happened to me??? LOL. But, Johnny Cash albums and 45's abounded in my home while growing up. I play guitar and sing and perform in live Legends-style productions as Bobby Darin & Elvis Presley, while my dad does Johnny Cash and a couple others. I also work in clubs as a DJ, and I was astounded at how many Pearl Jam college students come in and request Johnny.
