This past weekend a two year old boy was run over by his father riding a lawn mower. The father did not see his son walk in back of the mower when he was backing up. The child lost his left leg and toes on his other foot. To all who have these ,please be extra cautious when children are around.

As if that wasn't enough: Out here two years ago, in Vancouver WA, a woman backed her riding lawnmower over her two-year-old grandson - took both arms and a leg.

Wow! Brings back memories!
When I was very little (before grade school) I was running behind my dad chasing him as he mowed the law with a riding law mower. At one point I thought he was going to turn one way and he turned the other, so I ended up running right into the front of the mower... he ran right over my forearms and hands. I still have a bunch of tiny scars (luckily barely visible) on my hands where the blades nicked the upper side of my hands.
I was veeery lucky that, instead of reacting by yanking my hands up and out, I reacted by pressing my hands down as hard as I could knowing that the blades were rotating over them. I honestly believe that this is the only thing that kept me from loosing both of my hands.
And to think... I now work as a programmer where typing is the most important skill!

What you all need is an experienced hard landscaper / gardener to carry out works upon your property. Give me a call, I am in Yellow Pages Devon & cornwall UK, page 788, you cannot miss the advert. We are called - The Garden Artists 'Putting the Culture in Horticulture', only £10.00 an hour ($18.00) plus expenses.

Awful stories, all. (Elsewhere, thank God for your instincts!) My father ran over his foot a few years ago, and the mower blades ripped the steel toe out of his boot and tore off 2 1/2 toes (one was badly injured but they saved a nubbin of it.).While he was staggering around looking for his car keys, a racoon ATE one of the severed toes; he lives in a pretty remote spot and racoons are always lurking near his house.
Since the day I saw what was left of his foot, I've been too scared to push a mower, so I hire guys to do it for me. Celtic, I'd throw the work your way, but I'm afraid it would be too much of a commute to be worth your while.

These days with all the big trucks and SUV's here in America, people are getting back-up cameras and alarms on their cars. You cannot see a small child behind you if you are backing up.

A few years ago I had a Doctor tell me a fellow came into his office with two mangled fingers on one hand. When asked what happend, the poor fellow said he stuck his fingers under the lawn mower "to see if the blades were turning," they were turning just fine thank you. Bug
