Atilla - I think that's a good idea.
Special K - what a sweet story.
How about a Mother's Weekend?
xjw: What a wonderful idea you have....you are so thoughtful!!!
It usually is a bit more work. We started celebrating mother's day the first year I was a mother, it coincided with when we left the org. Since I'm a mother, it's always kind of hard to figure out what to do with the extended family. One of the mothers is going to end up with a houseful of family which isn't really fair. No one was coming up with anything this year so I stepped up to the plate and suggested we abandon the families this year and the moms head to the casino for the day.
Sunday around noon Mulan and I along with one of the sister's in law are heading across Puget Sound to a big casino for the afternoon. No one has to cook or clean. Of course I'm going to clean today anyway because that's just the way I am. Steve is off on a 100 mile bike ride.
I despise Mother's Day for the same reason I hate Father's Day. I don' t have either one thanks to the Witnesses and the holidays make me miss them. My mother and father have both made it very clear that if I'm not a witness I may just as well fall off the edge of the earth.
Tomorrow, on Mother's day, my wife is going to a zoo, in a large nearby city with my son and my grandson. They will have a good time. I will stay home and mow the grass and do some laundry. That will be just fine with me. Every mother's day is not a good one, but I think this one will be one of those.
pssssst ex-jw, ixnay on the acuumvey.
I am dreading Mother's day....Like I do every year. I thought this year would be easier but my relationship with my kids is not healed enough yet.........and I see my bf sending things to his mom.. to it is like it is being celebrated in the house.. but.. I just get to watch..
Sassy -
I know what you mean. I just got home from my "Mother's Day" dinner with my son. He's with his father this weekend and tomorrow there will be a BIG celebration with all the family at Granny's house. I get 1.5 hours and they get all day. Oh, and my gift...? Cash. I'm sure in my present situation (unemployed) they thought that would be best, however, in my opinion, I'm thinkin' "how much thought did that take?"
So, I took my cash and bought me a little espresso maker, a CD and some roses from the grocery store. If you'd like, I'll share my roses with you and I'll make you a latte and give you a bowl of fresh strawberries. It's the best I can do but you're welcome to it if you'd like.
