This is exactly like the blood issue. They are saying if you or the child are sure you are going to die you can abort it. Same thing about the blood issue if they are sure your child is going to die they with let the child take blood. The funny thing is all this conflicting posturing. 9 or 10 paragraphs of saying "x" is a sin then saying under certain circumstances you are allowed to do "x". Just like porneia. You can touch gentials but not "manipulate" them. The funny thing is most of these loopholes seem to only be there fo leal reasons. If the are implied legaly for giving medical advice then you can sue them (I believe). So they can only use emotional ploys to make it seem like you have a chance. I noticed for examples if you have an abortion the watchtower says this in footnote
See here they weasel out of giving out of any advice. They do even say if it is a sin to abort .

Selective abortion is the practice of aborting a baby because it does not have the characteristics the parent (or parents) want.
This, of course, does not mean it would be improper for a Christian to undergo tests to determine the health of an unborn baby. There may be a number of Scripturally acceptable medical reasons why a physician would recommend such a course. Nevertheless, some tests could involve risks to the baby, so it would be wise to talk to the doctor about these. Subsequent to such tests, if the child is found to have serious defects, Christian parents may in some lands be subjected to pressure to abort the baby. It would be wise to be prepared to stand by Bible principles.
Notice it does not say before one becomes a JW. It says "anyone" and "past". If you feel sorry then abortions are okay I guess.

Some of the names have been changed.
Anyone who erred in the past and aborted an unborn life need not conclude that all is lost. Such ones can be confident that Jehovah supports repentant wrongdoers and ?forgives in a large way.? (Isaiah 55:7) While the emotional scars may linger, the psalmist assures: "As far off as the sunrise is from the sunset, so far off from us he has put our transgressions."?Psalm 103:12.
