GM crops are "Genetically Modified" crops. A more inclusive acronym is "GMO" which includes genetically modified "Organisms" as well (since critter DNA is being messed with too).

Naysayers also call these "frankenfoods" (as in "Frankenstein"): see http://www.frankenfoods.org/. Pro-GM folks call them the best hope for a hungry humanity. The rest of us who have yet to make up our minds may simply sit on the fence hoping for the best until the horse is well out of the barn (if it isn't already).

I love GM crops...anything to be able to feed more people is a good thing. We have been genetic changing plants and animals through selective breeding for years...if we can use science to better the lives of people, why not?

How about GM vicodans that Im needing, so I can start screaming like a demon.

Cause in the end of the world nothing will be left but cockroaches, forty's and sherm sticks.

I think the jury is still out. In new technology, there are always bugs. It is the same w genetic ingeneering. Of course, they could do a whole lot of damage in the meantime. There is a huge potential for good and bad.

From one frustrated geneticist, there are many controls on the use of recombinate DNA. No guarantees, but the likelihood of any major catastorphy with it is very low. I'd eat any GM plant or animal without hesitation.
