Not to be a wiseass, but I think the correct title was "A Twist of Faith".
It was damn good

I started to watch it, but realized it was a rerun. Very disturbing the first time I saw it though.
Thought Steven Hassan was going to be on this show?
Did anyone tape it? I missed it
kj
I missed it. Is there still a show on the 28th?
Wasnt it so sad.? I sat & watched it & thought how religion is so wicked.!!!!!
That is why we must impress on folks NEVER to listen to what men/women tell us is from GOD.
When they destroyed their glasses -I knew I would have left...
BUT then!!!! when they told me on the operating table I MUST NOT take a blood transfusion- & a DR told me "YOU MIGHT DIE" I still said NO blood!!!!
"Oh the gift that God had give to see ourselves as others see us....."
Thank you for the gift GOD!!!!>>>>>>I saw myself in that documentary.....STUPID!!!!!!!
I drew alot of parallels between the Witnesses, and cults in general. A couple of tell-tell sign sof a cult are 1: Isolation. It was interesting to watch the gradual isolation of the group, similar how witness isolate themselves form the outside world. Not in the radical way that these people did, but by their encouragement to avoid contact with people who are not witnesses. 2: A progression of the fundementals of their beliefs. With this group, their fundementals progressed so severely that glasses were forbidden and one of the daughters was disowned for getting a pair. Buying gas was forbidden, "God" was supposed to reward their faith with gasoline (if taht were true I'd go back to church in a heartbeat:)). And then finally, the starvation of a child. 3: The belief in an eminate end of the world. These people believed that their tiny little group were the only ones who were going to survive the end of the world. Sound familar anyone?
So too Witnesses Fundementals has progressed more radically in later years (they like to call it new light)
Although this story, was very sad and a more drastic example of a cult, it was interesting some of the similarites
p.s. I missed the last 45 minutes due to a long distance phone call. What was the final outcome of the trial? Anyone?
The jury found the father guilty of murder; a year late the mother's trial was held. She was found not guilty on the murder charge, guilty on the other charges which I think included some sort of abuse charges. Considering the time she had already spent in jail awaiting trial, she didn't have to do more jail time.
Some jury members were interviewed and someone mentioned that there were many people responsible for he baby's death, not just the parents. Others could have intervened but didn't, however they weren't the ones to stand trial so weren't charged with anything.
