OMG!! Too funny... But, nah, JW's are always talking about sex ...and demons ...
They seem to spend half their time punishing people for having sex with the wrong people, or with the right people but before they're allowed to, or with the right people after they're allowed to but in an unapproved way, or using the wrong prompts to think about it, or for solo 'deadening of the body members', or using the wrong words to describe it, or dealing with the consequences of being to precious with people who've been sexual with the little people who they REALLY shouldn't have been... or talking about ouija boards...
Whatever probs JW's may have with sex, it's not ignorance...

Dear lord this was one of the first sketches on the First season of Mad TV. It was my favorite comedy skit of the 90's. Life imitates art eh.

I know of a witness couple who had been married for about 10 years and had been unable to concieve. Times got hard and they had to sell their tv. Four years and five kids later they decided that they had better buy another tv, and no more kids since then.......... They were good friends of my family, but faded in the late 90s and I haven't seen them since then.

I saw this reported on cable news. It could be true. Then again, urban legends do crop up in the mass media. If the actual doctors are getting interviewed and stuff, then that's a different story. I just wonder what the husband has been doing all this time for .... fun?? Did the religion destroy his libido too? And what sect exactly is this? Most religions I know at least mention the dangers of ... well, you know. Maybe they knew what sex was, didn't realize that sex WITHIN marriage wasn't fornication, and just weren't taught the basic birds 'n bees??? Well, except the article suggested that they knew babies came from the mother by going to a fertility clinic. Maybe they thought God just makes it happen?

I'm not the only one suspecting an urban legend......

Ananova to Blogosphere: You?ve Been Punk?d?
Filed under: ? Xrlq @ 9:12 pmThis story about a German couple allegedly being too stupid to reproduce is all over the Blogosphere. I?m skeptical. Here?s why:
- No one in the story has a name. For example, the only name given to the couple is ?A German couple.? That by itself could be explained by privacy concerns, but if so, why give their ages? And what on earth reason is there for withholding the identity of spokesman for the clinic?
- There is no such city as ?Lubek.? There is a city called Lübeck (which is sometimes spelled ?Luebeck"), and that city does have a university. Sloppy journalism, perhaps. Not a good sign
- Based on the English translation ?University Clinic of Lu(e)be©k,? one would assume that the university clinic associated with the University of Lübeck would go by the name ?Universitätsklinikum Lübeck.? However, upon browsing the web site of the Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein - Campus Lübeck (University Clinic of Schleswig-Holstein - Lübeck Campus) I did not locate a single instance in which the clinic was referred to simply as ?University Clinic of Lübeck? rather than ?University Clinic of Schleswig-Holstein.? By contrast, its sister campus in Kiel does get referred to occasionally as ?Universitätsklinikum Kiel,? or University Clinic of Kiel.
- Something this outrageous should be all over the news in Germany. Maybe it is, but I haven?t found it yet. A Yahoo! search for the terms ?Lübeck 30 36 [the ages of the purported couple]? turned up nothing of interest, nor did the first page of a more general search for Lübeck alone.
- The clinic?s web site says nothing about this bizarre story. This is odd, considering that the Ananova story claims the university is ?undertak[-ing] a study to try to find out if there are more couples with a similar lack of sex education.? It does, however, list a certain Frau Dr. Anja Aldenhoff-Zöllner as a contact person for the media.
While my initial research is far from conclusive, if I were a betting man, I?d say the blogosphere has just been punk?d. I?ve sent an email to Dr. Aldenhoff-Zöllner, inquiring as to the veracity of the story, which I?ve reproduced below. I?ll keep you posted.

Well, it is true that the name "University Clinic of Luebeck" does indeed exist:
I find it suspicious tho that the Ananova.com article did not state the name of the "clinic spokesman". There is a reason to give the names of the couple to protect their identities but not giving the name of the spokesman simply makes it harder to check the veracity of the story.
Very suspicious that the correct spelling of the clinic is not used in any of the articles, which all seem to derive from the Ananova.com piece.
