Horses ain't cheap and neither is the upkeep. You can't keep them in your garage in my neighborhood and it would cost about $150 for feed, hay, and bedding every 2 weeks (besides medical and farrier costs) and I would have to clean the stall. Let alone the fact you would be riding in the elements all year long.

No thanks, I'll keep my car.

You guys have NO right to complain.

    We pay £0.82p a litre.

    That is $1.45099 USD

Which means we pay $5.50 for a US gallon !!

Get a motorcycle, just as fast and most get over 50 mpg.

Perhaps I used the word Hoax incorrectly. Its a chain letter

That's the truth Chevys. We just bought an Excursion a few weeks ago. The gas mileage is horrifying but it's a pretty nice ride. I was complaining to a friend who drives the same and he said "there's more to life than gas mileage". It's my new motto. I have no choice.

    Just another email hoax.

If they were serious, they would pick a date not so in the immediate future. Give people a chance.. But that would give crudulity to the hoax.

I doubt it was a hoax too. The TV stations have been promoting this all weekend. I won't buy gas, but then I wasn't planning to.

Of course it's not a 'hoax'. It just won't accomplish what the author claims it will.

I read that it can't work because the gas companies track their profits weekly .. besides, if you don't buy gas Wednesday, won't you just buy it Tuesday or Thursday?

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure some people are making sure they fill up on Tuesday so they won't have to buy any gas on Wednesday or they will just wait till Thursday if they have enough to get through Wednesday and that is if they are going along with this plan. If you actually want to make the oil companies feel some financial pain, you would have to get a lot of people to stop driving their cars completely for a few days. But I don't see that happening. Americans love and identify with their cars instead of seeing them as tools. Cars often become an extension of the person's personality and people are not going to give up a part of themselves that easily.

So tell us, Princess, how much to fill that 40 gallon beauty? And it is a beauty too.

Our family is in peril over the price of gasoline. Our income is cut in half, due to the fact that we live in a rural area and must travel to the nearest city to work (60 miles round trip).

This "gasout day" will not work though, much as I wish it could. No more than shutting my electric off for a day. It is too short term a solution for a long term problem. Modern life demands fuel and consumers cannot change the need for energy. Changes must be made in technology and by governments (that should be caring about our future).

A blip on the screen showing dissatisfaction would go un-noticed. The same holds true of the watchtower. Members could refuse to buy or place magazines for a day but it would change nothing. A new supplier would change everything, or an alternative long term supply to make a huge enough dent.
