I just got back from his bar and he asked me to let everyone know how much he's missing them, and being offline is driving him mad. Might head up for another beer with him now.

Modems can be a pain in the (__|__).
Some modems never give problems; some always.
My personal experience with modems is that the modems with
a Rockwell chipset give you the least pain.Good Luck and get your (__|__) back on line.

Avengers: I will take that info you posted with me.
The modem I have, I will use it to hold up the window on a hot day.
I'm @ an internet cafe right now. Glad it's just down the street, and it also has a resident cockatiel bird who flies around, resting on the cubicle walls beside us, preening herself and just being friendly. So it's not too bad, sort of a home away from home.
Until I have a new modem, I'm going to take up macrame or basketweaving.
