To me, the word digestive turns me off, I guess it would be like seeing a box of "Salivary Saltines", or "Belchy Crisps"!!!

Princess, you obviously haven't been to the finer truck stops.
Biscuits & gravy is one of the finer Southern breakfasts. Heart attack on a plate ... and worth every single mg of cholesterol.
Cameo ... thank you for the clarification. E-man's horror is understandable now.

Do you have "Arrowroot" Biscuits?
You know, the kind you give babies when they are teething? Those are digestive biscuits. I like 'em.
We call the ones you pictured "tea biscuits".

"Arrowroot biscuits"? Is that like "melba toast"? I always thought those were just awful. Biscuits should be soft & flaky ... spread with preserves or smothered in gravy.

Nope.
They are a flat, beige cookie. Not incredibly sweet, kinda think like a cracker. They melt in your mouth. I thought you might have 'em in the US.
Edit: my mom just called, I asked her. She said "Think Graham Crackers". I hate that she's always right !!!! j/k
BTW,,, love biscuits & gravy with fried chicken. They bear no relation to digetive biscuits though, totally different head. Southern food rocks! (next to Tex-Mex, of course) heheh

Graham crackers makes sense. I like 'em with chocolate & toasted marshmallows.

I think we are talking about different versions of what biscuits are, don't you think?
In England, biscuits are what we call cookies.
In America, biscuits are a small bread-like thing we eat with food.
Cameo, I didn't read your reply when I wrote this.
My kids all loved Arrowroot cookies/biscuits. Not the same as melba toast.

Biscuits are best when smothered in sausage gravy, served with eggs over easy, some grits or fried potatoes, and more sausage.

oh and I love graham crackers and fig newtons!

Digestives are a special type of cookie, similar to Graham Crackers. We have them in Canada, too. You can buy the chocolate-coated variety. I like the dark ones. YUM!
And yes, tea biscuits are the same as your 'biscuits with gravy', a type of non-yeast bread, flour, baking soda, lard, & salt I believe. Also YUM!
PS to Dan-O I've never had 'smores! boo - hoo Now I can't for health reasons
