Be Afraid, be VERY afraid. When my car hit 100k everything seem to go south. (I should have changed the oil more often).

I got to watch my car's odometer roll over to 100,000 miles!

I am looking forward to the day when your posting numbers hit the 100,000 mark.

Mine's over 60 years old and still hasn't done 100,000.

Maybe I should get out more often.

    Thanks everyone!

So far the problems with my car have been minor things that one would expect with age: New tires, new breaks, new alternator and belt, O2 sensors, "topped off" the AC coolant, and replaced a door-lock switch.

None of these things came close to "breaking the bank". A "nice" new car will set you back about $400 a month in payments... the cost of keeping my car in good shape has been a fraction of that.

I'm thinking about having it repainted too. I bought it off-lease and it was a government fleet vehicle. Apparently just before it was sold they put a really cheap paint job on it and it is starting to peel off in a few places.

About how much would a good quality paint job cost where the old paint is removed and a new primer, paint, and clear coat are applied? I'm guessing about $700... am I in the right ball-park?

I just called Maaco and they said that for a "cheap" paint job it will cost about $650... for a good quality one... $1500.

Ouch! I think I'll put this off for now!
