Insomnia

    Well here I am at 36 hours and counting. I can't sleep. thus the reason for my proliferation of posts lately.

    Anyone with any cure alls, home remedy spells? Damn I just want to sleep.

    grrrr it just frustrates me more to think I can't sleep. hmmm deep breathing doesn't help.

    Any ideas?

    Well...have you tried melatonin???

    Reading till ya got sleepy?

    Watching TV till ya got sleepy?

    Have a glass or 2 of wine?

    Tylenol PM?

    Benadryl...2 of them????

    If this persists...go see your Dr.

    From the health food store: HTP5 (or 5HTP can't remember which spot the number's in) Kava kava (if they're not banning it this week...they keep waffling) If it's your mind racing, "California Poppy" works well From the aromatherapy shop: Any of the 'lights out' or sleep remedies. I have also used straight lavender as a calming agent. A little less out there: Healing Garden brand lotions/bathstuffs...in their sleep line OTC: Sleep-eaze or Nytol. Neither is non-addicting, won't work more than one night out of every 4 or so (you can take the pills repeatedly but they tend to not work other than how I described. I take one when I know I'll get a long night in, even if the next couple are bad. Showers will also calm you and naturally wind you down. Not too hot though or you could be too hot to comfortably sleep. One thing...don't 'worry' about sleeping. That can sometimes mess you up. No caffiene after 4 pm, earlier if you're really reactive to it. Wine is good if you want the hit to sleep, but it will screw up your REM sleep which might end up counterproductive. That's why I use the herbal stuff. Hope it helps!

    I just need to shut off the brain for a while. It just doesn't seem to want to stop. Lots of business stuff going on and I need to relax. maybe a little Tai-bo.

    Good ideas but I am just under 6'5" and don't fit into bathtubs all that easily. smirking at the thought tho.

    If I don't get some sleep tonight I'll check out the local health food store tomorrow. I appreciate the suggestions.

    I am a little upset tonight...so nothing is working for me either...

    I would love to turn off my brain....IF I could just stop thinking about stressful situations from the last 2 days...I think could SLEEP

    I know for me what helps me to shut off my brain is meditation. I lay in bed and try to think of nothing. If anything pops into my mind I slowly start thinking about nothing again. I do tend to notice that my mind wanders but at least I'm not really concentrating on anything particular. When this happens I fall asleep. This helps me. It can be different for others. But I hope it can help you, because I know how it feels when your mind just won't shut off.
