And his name is Moose. He's 9 weeks old, looks just like our dear departed Dexter's baby pictures, and doesn't take any guff off Ladybug. After the initial shock of a wee thing following her EVERYWHERE, Miss Lady is starting to enjoy having a dog around who will actually play with her (Dexter was very old when we got Ladybug, and he was more inclined to growl and snap at her than play). So we are once again a two-basset family, and I'm sure the neighbors are delighted.
And yes, he steps on his ears! Unlike our dainty little Ladybug, who eats like a finicky cat, this one is like a vacuum cleaner on speed.
Now for the Cute Story: I bought two rawhide chew bones on Sunday and gave one to each dog. Ladybug started chewing on hers and then looked thoughtfully over at Moose, who was gnawing on his. She walked over, calmly took HIS bone and put it with hers, then sat down to munch on both. Moose looked around in bewilderment for a moment and then waddled over to Lady and tried to retrieve his bone. She growled at him and he sat back and pondered his course of action. Then he reached out, bit her ear, and took his bone back while she was sitting there astonished!
