Ozzie,
I Agree .
A typical JW would say that Jesus - a perfect man - chose Judas; also they would say that this is a proof that we have free will and that God does not control our destiny...

Interestingly Judas was predestined for his role, so it was no mistake on Jesus' part.
Of course, the WTS will teach its members that there's no such thing....so they get around that one. Convenient, eh?
Okay to clear this up the GB retired in 2000. Also GB are not appointed it is the theological quvialent of a nick name. It was reclassified as any anointed at the world headquarters. Also the anointed is anyone the holy spirit bears witness to in the past present and furture. This included "christendom" whoare also anointed but hiding their light or whatever. THe WTS have not came up with an excuse for all those oresent day nuns and preist yet. They also decread that is anyone partakes it is none of your business. Some years the anointed JWs increase also. So bottom line there will always be anointed the real issue is when the traditional formed board of directors GB dies will all those old Great Crowd board members listen to young anointed serving at bethel that have no voting power.
I know they assigned the "given ones" back in the early 90's. I think Sam Farmer is not annointed. Anyone corroberate that?
Do you mean Sam Herd? He is of the anointed and one of the new ones on the GB.
Repeat, all current and past members of the WTS GB have been of the "anointed." The Given Ones only assist.

Ray Franz has pointed out that even twenty years ago, it was nearly impossible to find anointed men who were qualified to be on the GB. There were many, many, many non-anointed men who were far more qualified to be on that august body than even the current members.
If it is true as gumby has asserted that the WTS will never change its position and allow "other sheep" to be on the GB, the WTS will continue to face a huge problem. Most of the "real" anointed are dead. Most of the current anointed are "replacements." Most of those replacements are nutball wackos, or at the very least not mentally healthy and eccentric. If you think we've not nutball wackos on the GB now, just think of what it will be like when those younger "replacements" get on it in the future.

I figure they will just have light dawn and change the definition of "anointed" or "governing body" perhaps comparing the 144,000 to the 12 apostles and the other sheep to the other early Christians such as Timothy, Titus, Dorcas and Philip.
Then they could show that the GB had James and the older men of Jerusalem on it, men who were not one of the 12 apostles showing that it was possible to have non-anointed men on the GB.
Well, my example may not hold careful examination, but the WTS has weaseled its way of more difficult situations in the past.
