E'man, because of his new avatar pic, has inspired me to start this thread. i've always had an interest in WWII millitary aircraft since i was a child. i just wondered if anyone else had the same interest and could post pics of their favourite military aircraft from the same era. my faves were always bomber more than fighters, so here's some pics of them....

avro manchester (lancaster's ill fated predecessor)

short stirling mk3 (a bomber, due to its unusually short wingspan, that could out turn most ww2 fighters)

vicker's wellington mk5 (saw most of its action in the first half of the war before being replaced by the bigger lancaster and halifax, then went onto coastal command duties)

Pleasuredome (``ballturret?") , you've found a kindred soul here; I love vintage aircraft and built dozens of scale models over the years; now in my latter years, I working on getting my grandson involved in model building and flying.

I always loved the old fighter planes, myself. My favorite was the P-38.

Well I can't find the pic, but I have always wanted an F4U Corsair. The German manufacturing company Heinkel, had some awesome aircraft also.

F6F Hellcat. One flew over Seattle a few years ago. I think it was the loudest piston powered aircraft I've ever heard.

Dan-O I bet you like the P-61 too. Awesome looking plane.

the p38 i find, is one of the more interesting US ww2 fighters. i remember painting a picture of one for my gcse art portfolio at school. i might still have it somewhere i'll have to check it out. i also remember painting a bristol blenheim night fighter, in the same colour scheme as this current blenheim, but at night....

I don't know if any of you are airplane model builders, but a freind of mine here has a company that carries thousands of authentic decals for all types of airplane models.

yes i've built many models over the years. i remember the toughest model i had built was a 1:48 monogram B29. it was a nightmare trying to get the 2 halfs of the fuslage together.

the link doesn't work. RC aircraft is something i'd love to get into in the future, there are some great RC models.
