I know as a teen in the congregation I attended there were those when you were with them at a house party were some of the biggest partiers but at the KH they were holier than thou. These were the ones that the elders would give "special privileges" to. Most of these guys now are good elders. This was another thing that turned me right off of the organization.

I think JW's are just human like the rest of us, the world is full of people who choose between good and "evil" everyday. What bothers me is that I think the JW's are pent up springs from trying to please everyone and not be their true self that, makes them seem so much more hypocritical. Its the all or nothing mentality. Where as outside you have people that pick and choose moral laws or supposed moral laws to ignore or break and don't need to pretend they aren't.
This is the best example if can come up with
If you are a guy "in the world" and you just want to be a man whore, go out and man whore it up, you may piss some girls off but most likely you won't get involved in the kinds of things a married JW who is a man whore at heart might get involved in. Sleeping with another dub, probably also married, wrecking families, ruining friendships, wrecking the community of the congregation. Where as the man whore in the world isn't married, he can go sleep with someone outside his circle and not threaten friendship family etc. But dub for some reason shit where they eat when they decide to be themselves and it has a disastrous effect.
No one is perfect, but the dubs constant expectation of it makes their bad acts always seem much worse, more backhanded, more sick.

Too many to list, from an adulterating Presiding Overseer, to his son who was my designated association being the same age as myself.
I recall years ago this one elder that was very high up in the organization that would give the big parts at the DC and was on the blood committee. He committed adultery with a sister that he was counselling to do with the blood issue. He was DF'd but within a few years was back in as an elder giving talks at the DC. Seems like it depends who you are. If it was a regular R&F dub they would be left to rot for years, butt kissing to try and get back in.

I grew up in southern California around the huntington beach-downey area. As teenagers we were all "bad". Lots of parties during the 60's and lots of drinking before and during the parties. Not a lot fornicating but we did do everything but actually fornicate. Yes there were many, many very pretty young sisters around that were, 'theocratic' young girls during the week, but were "bad" girls on Saturday night. The 'brothers' and I that ran around together with liked drinking, surfing, and 'bad theocratic' girls on Saturday night.
As I think back, I had, even by 'worldly' standards, a fairly normal teenage life. I wasn't an ubber dubber except when I needed to be. You know, token service on Saturday morning and then off to the beach till dark, then drinking and going to parties. Token comments at the WT on Sunday and then off to the beach. We were always polite the the young girls' parents.
For a long while a bunch of jw's from all over the LA area used to go ice skating on monday night in Pasadena. It was a good way to meet other 'theocratic' young girls and find out about parties that was coming up. Of course, me and my buddies would always show up (drinking). I often wonder how we got away with all the sh*t we did.
Baddest thing that happened was in 1976 when a very spiritual brother, that I actually looked up to, was caught molesting his12 year old daughter. I was on the judicial committee. From that time on I realized that jw's are the same as other people and sort of lived my life accordingly.

Elder who ripped off lots of other elders with crooked schemes but was always held up as a great example of jay dub-ism. (The famous travel agent ripoff, i never understood what was going on with that.)
Several elders had horrible uncontrollable tempers at home but in the KH practically worshiped. A child of one of these monsters was my daughter's friend. My daughter knew she was being beaten regularly but never told me until years later. That girl now doesn't have anything to do with our family but is very close with her father.
One elder wanted to bring fireworks up to our house and shoot them off because we lived in a secluded spot. This was before it became legal to have them in Georgia. He was very put out that I would not agree to it. I said, It's ILLEGAL! He said the fireworks law was stupid. His wife told me she hoped he would get arrested, she was sick of him messing with fireworks.
And of course, the hispanic elder who was in construction, and would pick up workers every morning by the roadside. Never paid them. He would just work them for one day, pick up new ones the next.
Lovely people, appointed by holy spirit to tell me what I was doing wrong in my life.

Drinking booze has always been one of the naughty things that JWs still involve themselves in and reflectively this actually goes back to J Rutherford's time.
They cant do so many other things , boozing still retains one the things they can still do without much condemnation.
