I would bet that there are more stutterers and asthmatics in the witlesses than any other organized group? Anyone have any statistics?

I don't know of any stats on that, Carmel, but I think it would be interesting to find out.
The causes for stuttering are still nearly as mysterious as the human brain itself. For me, it was an emotional problem I carried on my back my entire life. It is truly a tragedy for those who suffer from the affliction without any real physical causes. It is frustrating to go along in life knowing that your trouble is not related to any physical or tangible cause.
They say it is "mind over matter". The oposite is just as true, however. If you can get your body to move and function in the same way a fluent person uses their body, then you can get the same fluent results . . . your brain will follow. Over the many years of speech therapy, that was the only key I was able to successfully use to get results. It is so over simplified that we often miss it. For me, it was a matter of using the same gestures and physiology a fluent person uses. When I started modelling some of the best speakers I ever heard, I began to speak with a strong measure of fluency. Weird, eh?
