It is definitely a case of shooting ducks in a barrel. JWs want to go to Bethel, don't have the brains or courage to organize their own, so pay some "brother" to do so at a profit. Nothing like profiting off your brothers and sisters, I say. And they do make a profit!!!

Why do they advertise on the internet? I thought the internet was bad..bad...bad....

LOL....You can plan a trip for a tour on the internet, but don't look up any other info, that might ruin their reputation. Rrrrrrright. (I feel a little like Dr. Evil at the moment).

Keep in mind that these prices are in Canadian dollars, so you have to take 25% off to get American dollars.

Once you do that, it doesn't seem particularly outrageous to me. A double-occupancy 9-day tour with stops in NYC, Niagra Falls, and Washington DC is around $750. That's about the same as this 7-day commercial tour of the same area. The JW tour is actually shorter, because it includes land transportation to and from Colorado; but on the other hand, it's also more economical, for the same reason.

So maybe these folks are overcharging; but I personally don't see any evidence of that. And I don't think there's anything wrong with making a profit from providing travel services. (Even if it may be against WTS regulations.)

I hope I didn't give the impression that they were overcharging.

I was just trying to point out that they have a captive market for their trips. It's not like non-JWs are going to go unless they are a non-JW spouse.

I thought it was interesting that they said that the tour guide would help them have fun and enjoy some of the sites around New York, such as the United Nations and the Twin Towers complex. I think they need to do some updating of their web site. They are no longer in cahootes with the U.N. (no need to advertise for them any more) and thanks to a few crazy terrorists we no longer have a Twin Tower complex. Do ya think someone should tell them?

Yeehaw! A WT study on the bus!

I haven't travelled by bus for years, but the LAST thing I would want to be doing while sucking diesel fumes on the Interstates would be to partaking of THAT.

    Other highlights:

    "Free night to do laundry!'

    "Night in Newark!"

    "Optional visit to grocery store!"

"Return home spiritually refreshed and encouraged" - at least the last couple of days of the "tour" have no WT crap to sit through.

Check out the pictures page... I feel sorry for this guy:

Poor bastard. Clearly his beard belies the fact that he isn't a dub. Check out why he's here.

His wife "Sister Unbelieving Husband" dragged his sorry ass on this stupid bus tour. He likely got snookered into going by her telling him they were going to NYC for cheap. Look at her face - she's absolutely tickled pink that her unbelieving husband (beard) is touring with her getting exposed to Jehovah's org. Methinks he comes to the congregation get togethers for the chow (as evidenced by the first picture). Poor guy. He's a good husband for putting up with this sh*t. Imagine the condescending way in which he is probably treated by the brothers on the trip as they are "friendly" to him in so much as it might be a "good witness to him".

I think he'd have been happier fishing or something. I just noticed that's one helluva big Coke bottle in his hands. He must be dying inside.

Don't get any funny ideas "unbelieving husband"! While the itinerary suggests you might enjoy the hotel facilities, I don't think a bubble bath with wifey tonight is sanctioned activity by Bethel Tours.
