According to the watchtower current doctrine states Armageddon comes immediately after some cosmic phenomena in the sky. This cosmic event announces Jesus presence too all the human and demon kind to let them know this is the end. This event happens when all religion is extinct excluding JWism, and the devil and his minions are hunting down anointed like Jedi.
This is the strict interpretation. This also implies most of the human population has been destroyed by a holy war or successions of holy wars in which the secular powers (the beast) win out over the clerics (Babylon the great).
