Me again. Here's my top five books that helped me considerably to see my way out. (1) Edward Rutherfurd's novel "London" - it dawned on me that generation after generation thought theirs was special in God's eyes, this novel started me thinking. (2) Crisis of Conscience - by you know who, wow! (3) A Road Less Travelled - M Scott Peck (4) Origin of Satan - Elaine Pagels. (5) History of God - Karen Armstrong.

Ray Franz "crisis of conscience" with concurrent discovery of David Reed's"'comment from the friends" and (3) I hooked up with Steve Hassan""overcoming cult mind control) who was just getting ramped up and lived the next town over( been to his house for meetings)

I also had my own defiant protest, started picketing immediately.I had a brutal time trying to deprogram. There was no internet community, and I was still shakey every october for the first 5 years.

Now help is only a mouse click away, bless you all.

I was more reading on here rather than abokk that helped me, but I've not long finished reading George Orwells 1984 and that made me think a lot about the techniques used by the wbts, and its not an apostate book so there wouldn't be a problem getting jw's to read it......

The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins

Guns, Germs & Steel by Jared Diamond

The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond

Out of Eden by Richard Dawkins

Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz

The first four are about evolution which was always my biggest doubt about religion in general and dubs in particular.

Once I was out for a almost a year I was fortunate to get my hands on a video used by the police to help them understand dealing with the weird cults and their beliefs. It was a video on J.W.'s weird beliefs and also the mormons. It had a wealth of info on the J.W.'s at the time. it was an eye opener. with the mexico/malawi thing. pyramid scandal/ beth sarim with pictures/ rutherford and alcohol and women etc etc.

As far as a book that helped me on a healing level I would say that was THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED by Scott Peck. That's a keeper book for me. I even studied it like a watchtower (lol) and have it all the parts I liked the most underlined.

Babylon The Great Has Fallen (1963) was the first I consciously realized I disagreed with the Watchtower on a doctrine. That was the beginning of my "waiting on Jehovah for new light," which was the beginning . . .
