    Hey there.

I found a site, one I have visited before. It has some info on baby birds etc., so click the link below, I believe you'll find it most useful.

My former girl friend and I had an aviary as a hobby. We bred several types of cockatiels. Greys, pieds, cinnamins and lutinos. They clutch about 3 to 5 times per year and lay 3 to 5 eggs at each clutch. Luckily for me, she did all the feeding. We incubated some of the eggs and pulled other eggs from the nest a few days after birth. If the chick is not going to make it, the mother will instinctively kill it, and the mother is almost always right.

To make a tame parrot from a tiny chick is a big, BIG job. It requires hand-feeding about every three or four hours around the clock. This goes on for weeks. I slept while she got up every few hours each night to feed the babies.

My first parrot was a male grey cockatiel named "Fred." I loved him. I taught him to whistle "pop goes the weasal." Almost all parrots naturaly wolf-whistle.

We also had several pairs of breeding conures in our aviary. We had a pair of peach-fronts, cherry heads and blue-fronts. For parrot lovers like me, conures are the "parrots from hell." Next to perhaps cockatoos, they are the noisiest screechers in the parrot world.

My next parrot was an Austrailian Goffin who was wild when I bought him. I never could tame him. He was a psycho.

Fourteen years ago I decided to buy a spoon-fed Yellow Naped Amazon parrot, who I named "Cockroach." He is still with me today, and he's still a very young parrot. He talks, he cuddles, he whistles, and he is a great friend. He sings "opera" when I practice the piano, and he's very good at it, I might add.

He bites jerks, as he well should. He gives GREAT beak!

Your parrot sounds great Farkel - cool name !

Funny parrot story : We were in a pet shop buying some fish and at the back there was a large parrot, Liam was about two at the time and went over to look at it, the parrot said in a very clear voice 'hello'. Liam was horrifed and took off like a rocket out the shop screaming - he was hysterical lol. It took him a long time to grow out of it and loose the fear after that, there used to be a restaurant in a mall near us called the rainforest cafe, it had parrots in there and sometimes they were outside, we always had to walk the long way around to avoid going past it because Liam would freak every time he saw the parrots

Good luck with the babies Outof the Org

    Hi Reboot!

This happened to me once, too............

I put my female outside, in her cage of course, and NOT in the sun, and placed some seed and fruit on top of the cage......and when he flew down to eat, I got him............

and clipped his wing shortly thereafter!

Good Luck and let me know what happens........

(I'm sorry your daughter is so upset about it)

Congrats on the babies! I have a pair currently sitting on five eggs and 3 are definately fertilized (the other two I can't tell yet) and if all calculations go right, next weekend we should see chicks!

I currently have four cockatiels (and 8 budgies) and have gotten so attached to them! I love them to pieces. I belong to another db (db for many kinds of birds) and even if you don't sign up, there is a ton of information for you to read-esp. about breeding and the babies.

Sounds like your birds are lacking vitamins. Find a powder you can add to the food...not the water. It is more wasteful if placed in the water. Hand feed the baby bird with Exact Hand Feeding Formula. If you are wanting to breed them add a nesting box to the side of the cage 1/3 way from the top. I would not keep the cockatiels together all of the time. They will over mate and if it has not already started to happen your female will start going bald between the legs.
