For Millions and Millions in Rent do$$ars. Just think how much they will be able to rent those apartments for when "New Light" tells the GB that their is not enough brothers and sisters left in Brooklyn to fill the rooms and they rent them to the none faithful. Beside look at how close going door to door will be durning bad weather.
Or they got advertise to the older brother and sisters to come and live out the rest of their lifes at earthly Zion. All they have to do is sign over everything they own to the WTBTS.

Wasn't the building on the Furman street sold recently?
If so, why would the Society sell one building and build this apartment complex?
Are these new apts for rent or for bethelites?
Please help me understand.

It reminds me of the Nazi's and how to kill those in internment camps they would have them move a pile of rocks from one place to another.
Know they have the Bethelites, thier prisoners buidling and moving things from one place to another to keep them busy and not wondering "when the end is coming". I remember my year at 360 Furman St I mainly worked in the Construction plumbing warehouse filling orders for construction sites and for branches throughout the world. I also did receiving when "worldly" companys would drive thier trcuks right up to our docks and unload and check invoices.
But at times I would be pulled out of warehouse duties to help out in the field since I was a basically trained pipe insulater working at the Bossert or at 360 Furman St. It amazes me all the money and toil that went into 360 Furman St and its being sold. When I first arrived at 360 Furman St in 1987 the building was more than 70% of a dump, with outside companies riding out thier final leases. Same at the Bossert, many residents were not witnesses riding out and suing to continue leases becuase of age.
What I've seen at bethel is something that I can write a book about.
