Why My Daughter Fell Away

  I once asked my daughter what happened to make her lose faith in the 'truth'. What was the turning point?

  She said she heard an assembly part about Witnesses kids hanging around the mall. One or more of them got pregnant.

  She reasoned that going to the mall does not bring about pregnancy - and that 'what was their point?, that going to the

  mall is bad? that it gets you pregnant'? After that, it all seemed idiotic to her.

  Holidays, birthdays, you name it, not all kids are stupid enough to be deceived by these lame assembly parts.

  My son, who is still being 'brought up in the "truth"' told me that his mother gave him a lecture because he wanted to go skateboarding with a non witness friend.

  She showed him a Young People Ask video (<shudder> never had those when I was a child thank god!) and the video related the experience of a boy who started hanging out with worldly friends and ended up owning a gun and selling drugs.

  My son thought it was totally rediculous he could not see how going skateboarding could result in his becoming an armed drug dealer.

  My younger son thinks that 'Diannah' has a lot to answer for as her example is always brought up.

  "Look Mom, I'm only going to go to a friends house to play on the Gamecube!, I have more chance of being raped at the kingdom hall !!!" <G>.

  With my boys, I think my ex wife is doing more to turn them against the witnesses than I ever could.
