Doug, if you talk to him, tell him hello from me. We've emailed in the past and he knew my father and brother, and my stepfather. Tell him I'm thinking about him, and wish him the best.

I know Maximus personally, and his wife too. I doubt his condition will substantially improve, but I know he sure does care a great deal for his fellow humans. Practically his whole life has been in service to others in one form or another. Quite likely all the help he offered to the ex-JW community in the past few years precipitated his current condition, but this is only an educated guess. His friends know he way over extended himself by trying to help every soul that came along, even the nutcases who absorbed enormous amounts of his time and limited energy.
My experience with Maximus reminds me not to forsake the people I cross paths with. Each one is precious in some way. Unfortunately many are difficult, and leave us with heartache. If we are honest with ourselves I believe we would have to admit we have left a few with heartache too. Then there are the gems like Maximus! Lord let us not forget him or those like them, or forsake them! They are pearls of very high value.
I hope I am wrong about my friend?s condition. He is one hell-u-va man!

marvin,
: His friends know he way over extended himself by trying to help every soul that came along, even the nutcases who absorbed enormous amounts of his time and limited energy.
THIS friend of his warned him about over-extending himself and told him to take care of himself first, because if he didn't do that, he shouldn't be worried about taking care of others.
Maximus agreed with me, and then blithely ignored me and went with his various projects.
A giant even as big as Max cannot solve all the problems that are on the platter.
I miss him. It is a rare thing to be able to speak with someone so versed on so many subjects.
