I came across this book a couple months ago. I just read it a couple weeks ago and found it to be quite enjoyable. The summary from the book's jacket is below. The author is Mitch Albom. I found it to be a really sweet book that shows us that seemingly insignificant lives actually do have meaning.

Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has

lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing

rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd

birthday, a tragic accident kills him as he tries to save

a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the

afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a

destination. It's a place where your life is explained to

you by five people, some of whom you knew, others

who may have been strangers. One by one, from

childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie's five people

revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating

the mysteries of his "meaningless" life, and revealing

the haunting secret behind the eternal question: "Why

    was I here?"

I loved Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie, so I got this book too. Great read! I don't really agree with the belief touted in this book, but it definitely makes you think about how you impact others in every day life. Even the simplest thing could change someone's life and you have no idea what you've done - good or bad. I know I need to consider it throughout my day more often!

    I agree Billygoat.

What about the ending... did you see that coming? That was such a sweet ending, very touching. I never expected the fifth person.

Hey Chevy I am free next Monday. Do you mean the Monday after this coming Monday? Either way I am free.

Tonight they have karaoke at my favorite dive bar in West Covina. I was thinking about going if my date falls through.
