WTS SAYS ELDERS SINS DON'T COUNT!

If a brother has been serving faithfully for some years and has seen evidence of Jehovah’s blessings upon him, why should he now step down from office?

Jehovah's Witness have no moral philosophy and their ethics are rancid evidence.

    Why do I say this?

Observe the sentence in the little box floating above.

Here is what the premise is really saying philosophically.

1.A sin is an offense against god. But, Jehovah might let you slide. Therefore offending god is not a matter of justice, but; of whim.

2.An elder represents the congregation as a spiritually mature person approved by god for leadership. Consequently, any sins committed by such a leader can slip by god's exhalted standards on occasion. If they do, it really means a wrongdoer can be blessed. This blessing is because he got away with his sin without being punished like the rest of the congregation would be.

3.God's standards are therefore double standards. Right and Wrong aren't a matter of doing the wrong thing and having a consequence which rectifies that wrong, but; Right and Wrong are a matter of cleverness, concealment and duplicity which might bypass ordinary ethical behavior.

4.Being disfellowshipped, being singled out for reproof or losing one's privileges in the congregation aren't a judicial matter if you are sly enough to hide what you've done for awhile. Justice in Jehovah's congregation is a roll of the dice; a gamble over time.

However, a standard isn't a standard at all if not equally applied.

The Watchtower Society has allowed its governing body and its "faithful and discreet slave" to get away with false prophecy, wrong-headed policy, public embarassment in flip-flopping and held themselves to be above the law of god because they SAY this so!

Would you really expect an even-handed ethical norm from such people?

Wrong is Right, Black is White and Yes is No when you hold power and can enforce your whims.

If this is evidence of a morally superior God acting upon humanity with the highest standards of righteousness we can see why this Jehovah is just another false god among mythologies of time.

    Terry,

Excellent commentary and analysis of the Watchtower's unethical and immoral standards. I finally realized that God cannot be directing the Watchtower Society. Thanks again for your post.

ok I have the CD and sure enough, it's there. Which explains why my skankie ex was always glossed over in the past because the elders always led the questioning in her past. "It was over 3 years ago right"?

So I guess those who hide it better are more forgiven......

But if you sinned once years ago and you were disfellowshipped for it, even a whole lifetime doesn't make up for the sin.

Maybe you should right the Elders manual, because have you ever thought that you were more correct when you wrote this? Just tell Jehovah is right and the WTBTS on confessing is wrong because it to keep the congregation clean and not for elders to pray with YOU! LOL I liked what you wrote and it should be for all not just the Elders! errrrr! Can I scream. and JW women can do this too!

So, the trick for an Elder is, if you steal, smoke, puff a joint, have sex outside marriage, or some other forbidden act, even more than once, all you have to do is hide the fact, don’t confess it, just tell Jehovah you are sorry, and then look over your shoulder two, or better yet three years. Once the Watch Tower statute of limitations has passed, you are off the hook and can remain an Elder or MS. It is as simple as that. But, I imagine that even a regular Publisher and JW women can do this too. Just do it, but don’t tell, and all will be forgiven. You will not be disfellowshipped or even publicly reproved. Now isn’t that fascinating?

Talk about backwards. These elders in positions of power, that the public seeks sheparding from and bare their souls to, and who sit in judgement of others, are 10 times more accountable than the r&f in my opinion. They know far better, and have public trust vested in them.

Things work much the same way in the catholic hierachy. You must protect your own. At least however, they arn't stupid enough to use peoples confessions against them and decrease their own membership.

I have always felt that the WT policy encourages deceipt from top on down. If no one knows about it and you don't get caught, your home free. Lie and deny, lie and deny. The most important thing to the watchtower is how they have always projected their image to the public. Image is everything!

If I had lied about my disfellowshipping offense there is no way in hell they could ever have proved anything. Truth and honesty are not rewarded with mercy, leniency or understanding. It is met with harsh judgement. The truth does not set you free in this religion. It is a death sentence ,for your own life, as you once knew it.

I think you have to be a real special kind of scum bag, to set the fates of others lives to ruin, while leading a secret life, as many in positions of power do. How cowardly, how weak, How pathetic.

For their own corporate survival, these titheads have to make rules like that, cuz they keep having this illusion that they are sinless and Godlike. The reality is, if they were to officially, in all honesty, kick out who should be kicked out, because of being human, their wouldn't be enough witnesses left to fill a hockey arena.

If they went to make the move of abolishing the practise of Dfing, I find it hard to beleive there wouldn't be a massive backlash at this point. Just imagine how many millions were given the figurative death sentence and had the abandonment of family members, suicides, and the change of course in the direction of ones entire lifes energies. They're best off letting their ship sink slowly, and try to get as many life jackets as they can find, on their "Titanic" stupidity vessel.

    Hi Jim.

He cited an older Kingdom Ministry, but I was never able to find it. Now, I have it, and it applies specifically to Elders.

If I remember correctly, there was also an early to mid 1972 to 1976 Watchtower that discussed this very matter but it applied to anyone who had commited even a gross sin many years ago. It said if the person was doing well and had evidence of Jehovahs blessing, then why dig it up again.....or something to that effect. Later that idea was dropped and all serious and gross sins had to be brought to the Elders attention so as to not "cover over any sin". Achan was used as an example. I wished I knew where the article was but I cannot remember.
