I remember when I went through my first wave of getting rid of the J.W. books.
Interesting to look at the different types of books that are in my bookcase now.
Thanks for the memory, Minimus.

The 1975 Yearbook is a pretty interesting one to keep - all about Russell and Rutherford and the beginning days of the cult. I weeded through all my dad's pubs and wish now I would have saved them for an Atheist Bonfire I recently saw advertised!
Make sure to kep your really early literature. It is becoming very hard to find. Whena was a teen, I amassed a huge collection of WT literature and memorabilia. An original phonograph with 6 of the rutherford 78's. The photo drama book, several photo drama slides, and the original projector, A gold pin with cross and crown that was sold back in the early Russellite days, Daily Heavenly Manna and Birthday record, the edition where he signed under his birthday "Praise Ye the Lord," The set of 6 Studies in the Scriptures unused still in the original wax paper, Millenial Dawn series-pre studies, yearbooks from the 20's to the 80's, Comfort for the Jews, Harp of God, A big stack of watchtowers, the earliest being 1908, consolations, Golden ages, Convention Reports from the teens, original Photographs of Rutherford, almost all of the Rutherford rainbow series-Enemies, Jehovah, Vindication, etc., Many Rutherford era 64 page booklets, a book about JW's called faith on the March, to name only a few things. I used to spend my allowances, and would gather pop bottles so I could go to the bookstores and find these things. It took several years to amass. My mother will not let me have them back unless I go back to the org. She used to make me keep them in the Garage, as she felt that they could somehow still be Demonized due to the fact that they were used, and did not know who they previously belonged to, even though it was the society's literature. They have been sitting in boxes for years now, and she will not give them to me, unless I succomb to her Blackmail. I have thought of going back for a little while, studying for a short bit, and pretend to be interested in going back, get my things, and then stop going. I would feel bad doing this, as it would get her hopes up, and set her up for disappointment, but I want my stuff!!! Any ideas how I can get them back???
hmmm....lesseee now.....there's
origami
bird cage liners
litter box liners
paper airplanes
paper boats
spit balls
rolled paper fireplace logs
papier mache
recycling
shoe and boot liners
I'm sure if I put my thinkin cap on, I can come up with some more, eh?

As of this evening, I threw out over 100 books. Most of them were publications from the 80's and 90's. Presently, I have, i believe, every WT. bound volume, including the very 1st!
Early WT volumes are valuable. I search through early lieterature to find items to use in ministry to expose the WT (Ephesians 5:11). I would possibly be willing to pay for shipping of these items, if you wish to donate them. If you wish I may also be willing to send money for certain items. Please consider helping me to use these items to help people out, rather than throwing them away. hooberus
You may wanna check this out. You can get some good idea what some of the lit. is worth . Some will even shock the poo outta you! From what I have seen on Ebay, items seem to go for anywhere from half to two-thirds of the rates that are listed at the site, although sometimes, I have seen things go for more!. Even some of the unusual stuff from the 50's and 60's can go for hundreds!!!
That's why I want to get my stuff back. Sell it, buy a new truck! Finally get money from the WT for a change!!!
I sold all of mine except for 1 NWT, and 1 Reasoning Book, to a used book store. I got a pretty good price for them too. Had a wonderful weekend on the proceeds.

Toilet paper, or when you use a public restroom you can use them as an ass gasket.

I kept that one too. Also two of them that mentioned my stepfather, who was a missionary and Branch servant in The Netherlands after WW 2.
You can box them up and dump them over the fence at your local KH. Someone did that at ours, when we were going. I grabbed up all of the old brown WT indexes, which referenced things they don't want you to find easily. Still have those too.
I did make hundreds of dollars selling things on ebay. Some go for big bucks like the old old magazines, Golden Age (before it was Awake) and Consolation. I sold 4 of those for $40 each. The old Rutherford books, that came to be called The Rainbow books, sell pretty well too. I recently tried to sell 2 more I found in the basement for $5 each and failed. I'll try again in the winter.
In looking at 'Six Feet Under' last night on HBO, I think it would be a good idea to burn them.
When I got fed up with those books, I threw them down the trash-chute only to have the maintenance guy come upstairs and tell me that those bound books are too big for the trash compactor - How embarrassing :) I forgot that my name was on all the books. After that, I threw a book down the chute one day at a time (with my name crossed out of course :)
