  I'm sure that I would've, believing that Jehovah God would be proud of me. Mind Control does that to you.

  After I had my daughter, that was one belief, I had a lot of inner conflict with....but like you, I probably would have, just because I thought it would be the right thing to do, believing that the future holds everlasting life and not just temporary life. Now, the thought of it is appalling.....

  Also I would have. It's true Min. You really believe that it's one of the worst ways to sin against Jehovah. Completely unforgivable.

  I know a couple of JWs who became so terrified by their doctor/prognosis that they gave in and were transfused. Add one more fear to the list, the elders/congregation/family---everyone, instantly and almost literally turned their backs on those people. They died not long thereafter, possibly the rejection by everyone in their life was the nail in the coffin. So add that to the fear of "disappointing Jehovah," and it's no wonder that people can fool themselves into thinking they are dying for righteousness by refusing transfusion.

  I find this one of the more disturbing aspects of JWism, especially in view of all the multitudinous "fractions" now allowable by "conscience."

  I believe this thread can help persons THINK about the terrible repercussions that exist because of following the Watchtower's STUPID interpetation of "no blood!" Lurkers and others should seriously consider what being a Jehovah's Witness really involves. To think we would have let our own children DIE simply because we followed the interpetation of truly uneducated men!........Remember----not that long ago, accepting a transplant of any kind was considered "CANNABLISM"!!!!! Now, it's ok, per the "faithful and discreet slave". Before, you would be disfellowshipped for having oral sex with your mate. Now, it's still considered "wrong", but, there's a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Whatever their whim is, is what the Stepford Witnesses will do! Such a shame!!

  I knew fairly early on I couldn't refuse a blood transfusion for my kids. I told their mother eventually, just so she knew. Blood was one of those main issues that really started to draw me out of the JoHos

  It caused a lot of inner conflict with me too as this was the issue where the rubber met the road. No going back. Do you really believe it all with all your heart, like Abraham.

  I would have given blood in the end. Not that I didn't believe, but it would have been on my head not my son's.

  Nope, and though the likelihood of me ever having kids is between slim and none, when I would see the little JW kids playing at the KH or at a social gathering or what have you, I would think to myself, no way if I was their parent would I "pass the test of loyalty" were a doctor to tell me that my child was going to die if I didn't consent to allowing a blood transfusion.

  Plus, my "worldly" family would have f*cking killed me if I ever would have followed that horsesh*t JW doctrine to such a tragic end.

  I guess when it comes down to it, I was there for the socialization and the fact that JWism kept death-terror at bay for me. Not a hardcore believing dub by any stretch.

  Never, when it came to my kid's ,i didn't care what god said i would have made sure they got the blood to keep them alive.

  confused, You really hit the nail on the head. Blood is where the JW's call for sacrifice. It's put up or shut up time. They've watered down the prohibition so much in the last few years that there's hardly any point in them keeping it, now.
