Therapy works for both me and my mother. You need to find a good one.
You basically sit around and talk, they often ask questions that make you look at stuff from a different perspective.
Definately recomend it.

Does therapy work?
From my experience, yes. I started therapy for other reasons (sexual abuse and alcoholism in my family). As I progressed, I realized that I had one more abuse to deal with, spiritual abuse.
It is very important to find the right therapist. Freudian theory is pretty much on the shelf now. But there are several other types. My therapist uses a mixture of several types.
I found it helps to find a support group of people who have gone through similar experiences and are at different points of recovery. I found Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA) very helpful in all 3 areas of my abuse.

Yes. Good points from Lady Lee, too.
Go for it. You won't regret it. Find the right helper, though.
Good luck!
LUCK LUCK LUCK I love being free to say that word. ;)
