Hell week is almost over...

Hell Week AKA Vacation Bible School at the church behind us is almost over. There are approximately five more minutes of screaming left, followed by a "free carnival" at 5pm, then nothing until Sunday when we'll be gone anyway. YAY

I use quotes on the "free carnival" because I have to wonder, is anything really free? It makes me so angry when they go out of their way to invite MY children without consulting me first. Obviously we despise them, we've made that quite clear. They still try to suck us in via the kids. So now I get to be the ogre who has to tell them that we won't be attending the "free carnival" this year. Of course ALL their friends are attending so the tears come.

We have attended in the past only to be sought out by the youth pastor who introduces us as the people who live there (pointing at our house) who I've told you about. Well, that can only mean one thing. The only thing he'd be able to say is that we are the ones who come over and tell them to shut up, they are lousy neighbors, woke us up at 5am Saturday...etc...etc..etc... Steve was steamed last time and we have avoided them at all costs. Plus the church ladies give me nasty looks and all the carnival give aways are Jesus toys.

DON'T BUY A HOUSE NEXT TO, IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND A CHURCH.

Remind them they get a weekend with grandma and grandpa, and their other grandma.

I thought you meant training for the STP was hell week.

One thing I've always agreed with Joe Rutherford on is that " religion is a snare and a racket" .I just didn't have sense enough to apply that to the WTS until I was over 40. To try to snare you thru your kids is disgusting.

I agree 100%. My mother-in-law lives behind a church, and it's a pain in the ass. Whenever I would sleep over there Saturday Night and wake up sunday morning, I'd get boxed in from assholes parking on the street, and I watched one bastard ram into my truck trying to park in front of me. So, when I left, I rammed into his van nice and hard. I should've reported him to Autopac and made him pay a fine for a hit and run.

LOL Rachel- glad it is almost over for you !! Just thinking back to your "pumpkin placement". You could play AC/DC really loud about 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Might sound just like the screaming you've dealt with

They learned quickly not to park near our house. We wouldn't have minded so much but they park and then walk across our yard. Now, if it looks like they are even considering it, we just turn on the irrigation system. I'm pretty sure the church has warned them about not parking in front of our house. We get quite vocal when they do.

Shutterbug, I agree, they are so low to try to get the kids involved. Since my kids are only 6 and 7, I would appreciate the courtesy of being asked first. Please tell Lupe hello from Steve and I.

Yeah, we've considered it but we really like the other neighbors. We have to listen to the church organs starting at 7am on Sundays and the "band" practices all evening. Sunday is just a day to leave home.

Steve found some gargoyles that he really likes. He wants to buy them and put them on top of the fence posts to glare at them day and night.

    Princess,

Was that church there when you bought the house, or did they move in afterwards.

If they were there before you moved in then you have no one to blame, but yourself. It's called due dilligence, and self-responsibility.

If they moved in after you did, then I am sure there are reporters just salavating at the chance to nail a church. If they are not responding in a Christian manner, and you are making it worse by being combative then you are screwed. All they will have to do is claim that you are some type of atheistic, child-sacrificing demon worshippers, and you will have the entire Christian community breathing down your backs.

If neither option works, then you can just up and move.

The church that I attend bought the buildings they own fromthe YMCA. There was no issue in the 7 years that I lived in that community with the Y having daycare at that location. But after the church bought it and decided to put in a daycare center, then all hell broke loose.

LABD, we simply thought they'd behave like most neighbors...they don't. They are loud at all hours, revving car engines, screaming across the parking lot, etc. I'm not "blaming" anyone. We simply won't put up with their rudeness and Steve walks over and tells them exactly what they are doing that is bothering us. They do stop and apologize but then we have to put up with their pointing etc when we see them. Just rude. Add to that the way they are always trying to entice my kids over and it just makes me mad as hell.

Not the least bit worried about the christian community, most of my neighbors are not regular church goers so they'd have the entire group of us to contend with.

    Now, there's a thought. I like it.
