Know Where Your Publisher Record Card Is?

All that is on your "card" is whatever you put on your time slips, your name, DOB if they know it, address (the last one they had when you left), whether you were baptized, date of baptism, whether you were of the other sheep, anointed, elder, MS, regular pioneer, phone number.

There is no record of your offenses or a summary of the BOE opinion of you.

After you leave, it is just a reminder of who they have to call on. Most elders do not like doing this; and the reports of many here who have not been called on prove that.

I read where one non-JW man got rid of JWs calling on him by inviting them in and then telling them he had been a JW and was now DF'd. He said they left very quickly and did not call on him again.

My card is in the bedroom draw. So, I am not DF'd, DA'd or recorded. Not a bad situation

I moved and am not sure where my card is. But I recently wrote to the Society to destroy it. So it is their turn to search it...

i requested mine and when i got it we got dogged by my former elder buddies on the body

i wanted to know what they would say, so i made a bet with a guy that i could get my cards, school slip and letter of intro from those clowns

i had a poster on this site allow me to use his mailing addrees

i sent a letter indicating we had moved by to nc to help out mom and the body needed a letter since the co was coming-

they responded not to recommend me for reappointment since i had disappeared, they indicated that i had become worldly and my wife was dressing worldly as well- it was a great dog letter

so those fools sent the intro letter, school slips and pub cards it was funny

Thanks, Blondie about the info on the Publisher Record Card.

Now, I've got another question. What about the file that keeps all of your misdeeds on record? Don't they keep a file on when you are counseled, reproved, DF'd, reinstated, etc, etc? Where's that file?

Mine are in a box in my official congregation folder. I swiped it when I left.

There is no official record kept of when you are counseled only actions that arise out of handling a DF'ing or DA'ing situation. The notes and forms sent to the WTS are kept in a sealed envelope, labeled with your name and date. No one is supposed to open them except a JC member (or another elder if those people have all died, moved, been removed, themselves). Many congregations keep them in a locked file cabinet in a room in the KH designated the "elder's room." Do elders follow the WTS directions on this....? What do you think? Some POs have the files at home. Some aren't locked. Some aren't sealed.....

There is no confidentiality in the congregation. All it takes is one elder to tell his wife, Sister Chatty Cathy, and everyone will know. The details may be skewed though.

Maybe that's the official policy, but I remember being counseled by a JC one time. The next COs visit, another meeting was held. I was told that the CO had reviewd the "notes" of the meeting and had determined that the elders had not followed through properly.

That lead me to believe that they kept written records of everything for the CO to review. Why I remember the details so well is because the elders in the JC meeting said that everything said would be strictly confidential. Not even the other elders would now the details of what happened, or how a decision would be reached. Only four people (me, 3 elders) would ever know what transpired in that room. I know that some elders have big mouths and gossip amongst themselves and to wives, but this was an outright lie if they knew that the information would be handed on down the line.

undercover, the CO reviews all JC actions especially if he doesn't trust that BOE to handle things "properly." COs don't like there to be grounds for a decision to be overturned on appeal. If I remember correctly, he has a report he has to fill out and that doesn't look good on his record.

    Elders lie!!!!

    I'm shocked. not

    Some clarification:

    • When we say Publishers Record Cards we are talking about "Congregation's Publishers Record Cards" - that's the correct title. The Society changed the name to that to support their contention that such records belong to the congregation and not to the individual. They are usually designated by the letters CPRC.
    • The elders are instructed to keep just the last or current card for each individual ("publisher"). Thus when we speak of our cards we should be speaking of our card. - The elders should have destroyed cards from previous years. There should be no historical files. Of course, in practice that may not be happening but it is the Society's instructions to BOE.

    Cheers, Ozzie
