I have a cousin who challenged the jws. Her conversation went something like this:

    "Knock Knock"

"Good Morning. We are here to 'share' an interesting article about ----"

"I have a problem with you jws. My cousin has children who refuse to speak with her since she left the faith. What kind of love is that?"

"Well, she must have done something wrong!"

"What do you mean, she did something wrong? Isn't that a judgment you are making against her? Haven't her children judged her? Who has the right to judge another?"

At this point the jws left, having no real answer. I am feelin' mighty proud of my cousin!

It is nice to see the dubs have no answer to that one --- still!

I wonder if it leaves them with doubts about the cult?

    Any comments?

My stepmom hustles them along with "Yes, my daughter married a Jehovah's Witness, and I know ALL about them. I am not interested."

My best friend's dad reams them out on my behalf every time they come to his door. LOL

I would tell them that a friend of mine got disfellowshipped for reporting sexual abuse to the authorites. Thank them for coming by, then tell them goodbye, kindly. No need for reaming out... they are people who are blinded, either by circumstance or choice. People change over time.

    End of conversation.

As I was reading your post I thought it was going to be a hypothetical scenario. But it was real....I love it!!!! I know if that would have happened to me I would not have been able to field the questions. Sadly, it would not have made me think anything except how they "just don't understand."

JWs don't seem to like being confronted with questions about judging one another. This reminded me of a time when I still had a book study in my home. I forget what we were studying, but the topic of justice came up. In my comment, I read a cited scripture that said we should not be judging one another. The BS conductor became quite agitated and proceeded to make a comment regarding justice that was obviously directed at me. He talked about people who take courses to further their "worldly" careers and tied it in with materialism and justice. His comment made no sense whatsoever, and I still can't see how he made a connection between justice and my taking computer courses on Saturday afternoons. But he had a lot of trouble extracting comments from anyone for the rest of the study. After the study I told him that since the elders had such a huge problem with my alleged "materialism" that it was inappropriate for them to benefit from my aquisition of material things, and that they would have to take their book study out of my home.

    Walter,

Just what I would have done. I know those elder types... well. I stood up for myself on several occasions to they're 'judgments'.

I bet that shook things up, LOL!

The JW's are conditioned and indoctrinated to shun anyone who leaves their group. This does not suprise me. In the Aug. 15 1981 issue of the Watchtower it says right out that if a JW stops reading the watchtower and studies the bible alone they will revert back to normal christainity. To maintin the cult they must not allow their members to too much outside influence, influence beyond their control.

Thanks everyone who responded! I loved hearing your experiences along these lines.

High control is the jw order of the day. Elders just don't want their thumbs to slip off their cult members.

Heheh! Love it! It is nice to see that the jws don?t always come out smellin? like a rose. Sometimes they smell like a pile of sh*t, instead. I suppose anyone who has their own opinion is not good BS material. Guess they won?t be callin? again any time soon, huh?

Goin? door to door just ain?t what it used to be, huh? Conversations don't end with, "I have my own religion" anymore...hehehe!!!

That would be a tough one for the jws to handle. They seem to think thus far -- that the sex abuse stories are all concocted. It would be interesting to see how they respond to meeting someone who knows of a genuine experience with the sex abuse scandals. Too bad the dubs just don?t check out the Silent Lambs website, with an open mind. When cult members are truly brainwashed as the dubs are, they don?t ?see? the cracks. Seriously, I hope someday they will open their eyes. I know there is hope for them, if I left -- anyone could.

Yup! It really happened! I have a neighbor in my building who pretty much said the same thing when the dubs called. I?m so proud of him, too! To outsiders, jw behaviour is all too incredible and inhuman. These are questions the dubs simply can?t answer. I love it, too!!! And you?re sooo right, the dubs go away thinking, ?people simply don?t understand.? Damn right people don?t understand the insanity!!!

Walter, I think you?re right on! There are questions they don?t want anyone to ask. In fact, they don?t want us to think about anything beyond what is in the paragraphs!!! Simply because they don?t want anyone to actually think for themselves. I love how you concluded the matter at your book study? Hehehe!!!

Again, thanks everyone for your experiences! I needed a good laugh today!!!
