Sunday morning i get a frantic call from my son ,that he thinks he just had a seizure, i am only a few minutes from him so at 90mpr i went to take him to the hospital. While getting him from his apartment i see a moved refrigerator, things smashed on the floor. Okay , Steve let's go, i fly to the ER and this kid is shaking, we get in a room and the emergency doc. comes in and asked my son what happened,,,,He said he got out of bed felt a little dizzy, walked to the kitchen and the next thing he knew he was waking up on the floor with things smashed all around him and the frig. moved. Well after some blood work and a EKG they found nothing wrong. I happened to bring his meds to the ER with me , one is for high blood pressure that he has taken since he was 20 and he is now 25. Also my two son;s are bodybuilders, when the doc saw the other otc meds he was taking it all came together what happened to him.
My two son's recently went to a new place for their supplements and was told if they really want to bulk faster take these forty dollar pills. Well you probably know where this is going , yes they were a form of steroids and mixing this with his bp meds made his blood pressure so erratic it cause him to pass out and must of been thrashing on the floor. He had only a very bruised foot and very sore neck and the feeling of being a dumb ass for not checking this stuff out before taking it. The doc said you can put anything in a bottle and put it as a different name but it is still the same , a steroid
Took my son to the ER sunday,,,,,,

The firts thought I had was "steroids."
My sick JW brother has to take steroids as a result of his illness, and the results aren't pretty.

Holy Smokes KLS!!!
I hope your son will be ok. I used to take a "milk shake" type supplement a few years back. It made me terribly ill. Who knows what was in there, but was supposed to make you "energized" and so forth. I energetically vomited for two weeks

WoW! I'm glad you found out what was wrong and how to fix it early enough. Steroids are bad news. And many people take supplements and "protein" shakes without doing their homework. They figure if they can buy it in a health food store it safe. It isnt.
How lucky you and your son are that it wasnt worse. *muah* and a sigh of relief

Two different types of steroids. Medically-related steroids are anti-inflammatories such as prednisone, which are usually used for bad respiratory illnesses, lupus, etc. And no, the results aren't pretty (not to be confused with the much milder and nearly side-effect free 'inhaled' steroids. Can't tell you how many asthmatics I've seen that have had to be hospitalized because the listen to all the bad press about 'steroids' and refused to take their inhalers)
Bodybuilding steroids are anabolic steroids, which cause massive increases in testosterone, cortisol, and other substances. They also cause fluctuations in basic metabolic funtion which probably accounts for the blood pressure problems. The promote early cancer, testicular atrophy, bone and joint deterioration, and a whole host of other nasty problems.
I make the distinction because the medically necessary steroids, while having numerous side-effects, are beneficial and necessary. The anabolic 'roids are destructive. I just hate to see people stop their medical steroids because the press is too ignorant to make the proper distinction and scares people by just saying 'steroids are bad for you'.
Sorry. My medical moment for the day.

TallTexan, good point , but even long usages of medical steroids do have their side affects thou medically necessary and life saving.
