Is God able to help everybody all the time?

In computational terms this is no problem at all. A decent server farm could handle 27m concurrent requests easily.

Hey Pole! I appreciate your thoughts on this. I have trouble comparing God to an unfeeling network server. I would hope the Creator would care about us more, if he/she/it is able to do so as you suggest.

This story in Daniel provides little comfort if it took Michael 3 weeks to realize that Daniel and the weaker angel had a problem.

Pete -- I thoroughly enjoy the insights on history and theology you bring to the forum.

However, then why do I (and most all humans) feel a compulsive need to reach out and alleviate the suffering of others? If we feel so compelled, then why, as the physical facts show, doesn't God do the same?

Hey there, Craig. I smiled when reading your Watchtowerish prose "as the physical facts show". But you've hit the dilemma right on the nail's head.

    benevolent, loving and caring

When did God ever become come those things?

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I, the LORD, do all these things.

Excuse typos -- You're right. If the Bible is to be taken at its word, the way the world is -- it's exactly what God wanted. Now I have a REAL headache.

Why does NotreDame not go undefeated every year? All that praying in the locker room and crossing themselves in the sideline huddle, they still get their butts kicked by USC.

Seems the NCAA football god is not able to multi-task!

Armageddon is your answer in terms of a Bible based belief system

That is when God really stops pulling the punches and sends in Christ to sort things out (you know that already though).

You have to remember dear hearts that the God of the Bible is supposed to be relatively passive at the moment.

Come on now - think damn you! There is no need for these threads

(that scripture in Isaiah is interesting)

One day when talking to my brother about biblical things he said in layman terms (hoping God doesn't strike me down right now as I type this) that God made "a bet" with Satan to see if Job would weaken and "curse God and die". We all know Job didn't do this but God knowing all things already knew Job wasn't going to weaken but allowed him to go through all this anyway. He did get his blessings in the end, but my question is, if God already knows who's going to make him happy and who he is going to have to destroy in the end, WHY NOT GO AHEAD AND GET IT OVER WITH???

It's like a scene from a movie where the person is tortured until he gives some info or dies or escapes. God already knows how the end is going to be, just go ahead and kill the evil ones, and let the meek possess the earth. Kill Satan and be done with it. When he got mad with the people during Noah's time he caused the flood. Then Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed. Ok then he sends Jesus Christ to die for all sinners. So if all sinners are accounted for by Jesus Christ death just go ahead and KILL SATAN or lock him the abyss or where ever he's going after the 1000 yrs of peace. Why does God test us imperfect humans like this and he knows we are weak? To win a bet with Satan just like with Job. He wants to prove to Satan that with all the tricks and temptations he gets people with some are still going to remain faithful to God. So why keep this going? I feel in my heart that I may not make it into this "new system" or "paradise" or even have the "heavenly hope" so for those that are going to be in those places go ahead and end it for their sakes. Why continue to let new lives(babies) enter into this wicked world everyday to suffer with all the evilness thats only getting worse and worse everyday?

And if JW's are the only true religion approved by God go ahead and wipe out everybody else or make everyone be a JW. I mean when they were building the tower of Babel(sp) didn't he confuse the languages so that the tower could stop progress? So if he was able to do that, he could make everyone be a JW if he wanted to.

This may be a bad example but its like Kingpin dealer letting lil pip squeak dealer get all the sales he can and Kingpin knowing full well he can get rid of lil pip squeak whenever he wants too but allows him to continue making his lil sales until finally he gets tired of lil pip squeak and then sends his "right hand man" to go get rid of him.

It's times like this when I just sit back and look at the world and the situation its in and wonder why do I want to stay here? Why do I want to continue here? But I have to stay here and suffer along with everyone else until Jehovah sends Jesus to get rid of lil pip squeak.

Sweetp -- I'd hate to think that we're pawns in some sort of sick betting game between God and Satan. (I think Satan may be an imaginary religious device used out of convenience, although there's enough weird stuff going on that there may be evil spirits... but that's a whole 'nother thread.)

I'd rather think that God got the ball rolling and now is either just sitting back and watching, or too busy with other projects in the universe. If he's extremely interested and/or involved in what's going on right now, that'd be more disturbing to me (due to the amount of evil and suffering that's going on needlessly and apparently with no end in sight).

    Greetings Gopher,

Yes, there is an answer to your post as I have received from the Holy Spirit. The Spirit says,

"Yes, the Father does help many people, even the ones who really NEED his help. However, there are many, many people who have been abused, war-torn, starving, diseased and more who suffer.. yet they do not WANT my help. They do not want to make the changes that are necessary for THEIR benefit in order that they may no longer suffer anymore. Anyone who 'wants' the truth can have it. Anyone who wants to be released can have it. If they "really" want it, they will do what is necessary to attain such things and the Father will by NO MEANS withold good things from them. Sadly, many flesh does not like to make changes, does not want to stop doing what makes them suffer, and continues to suffer because they "want" to suffer because they DO NOT want my help, or they do not want to make the changes for their benefit that would PREVENT or even ELIMINATE their current state of suffering. A'men I say to you, EVERYONE asking receives.. and EVERYONE searching finds.. and to EVERYONE knocking.. it is opened to them. Many in the earth who do not receive, do not receive because they are not asking. Many do not find because they are not searching, and to many the door is NOT opened because they are NOT knocking. He who knocks, it is opened, he who searches.. finds. And to everyone asking.. they receive."

As I have heard from the Christ.. the Holy One of Israel. Peace to you all.

First of all, the question pre-supposes that God's prime purpose is the "helping" business!!!

Let's be honest, we humans are generally selfish b*st*rds. When did any of us try to do anything for Him?
We are so "inward" facing it's surely an insult to humanity, far less a deity, to this that we should get an answer (far less deserve one, by some form of twisted logic).

This is going to sound back-to-front, and the humanists and egotistically-righteously-indignant may just jump up and down a bit, but so be it (coz the sun doesn't rotate around them, nor shine out of their ars*s).
My personal experience with prayer and the answer thereof is that it's more effective when it's "outward" facing (in a conceptual sense). When the result desired is to the "glory" of "God", or left with the rider "should it fit in with your big-scheme-of-things" then they have a greater chance of answer.

The example of Abraham vs Sodom is an interesting, in that there appears to be a dialog resulting in a change of opinion. The example of Jacob at Bethel, being another. I'm not going to argue about the accuracy of these accounts, but as a potential subjective source of "answer" it balances what I've thusfar said.

We also have to throw in the "what's best for us factor, when we're used to getting answers to prayer. Do we truly know, or do we submit that to the one we expect an answer from?
Also, from a far more subjective basis, what kind of deity are we asking? Is the result comensurate to our expectations?

Taking it down to an entirely human level, whose answers for help do we prefer to respond to, when asked by humans? Does that give us a clue?
Of course all this is highly questionable, and I have to ask again, is it's "God"'s main business at all?

LT of the "still running at 100% answer rate" class.
(with no sense of smugness in that, incidentally - only wonder).

It is quite a task to keep up with all those prayers. For a full explanation of how it works, see the film "Bruce Almighty".

Seriously, I don't have much faith in a compassionate, communicative creator figure anymore, but I do believe in a sort of "Master Consciousness" that we all have access to and we all share, regardless of religious beliefs. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are all part of the Greater Mind that flows through each one of us, and thoughts do become physical reality.

For all I know, there is a God that created this whole sea of consciousness and listens to prayers. My lack of faith is my own doing.

Sorry if this sound derogatory........but this is about the most pathetic, rediculous, self centered, explanation I have ever heard in my life.

I suppose all the people in the world who are suffering.......just don't want the lords help. These suffering people all like their selfish lifestyles. All the starving people.....like it that way. Abused children who live for years under horrible trauma.......must not like god quite enough and don't wish to change enough for god to help them.

You need to go see a shrink. BTW.....that was offensive to say the least!

Go ask all the people who cried out to god in their suffering if they would have "changed" if that's what was preventing god from helping them.

You people will continue to make excuses for a god whos unwilling to lift a damn finger to stop suffering.
