While driving thru town the other day, I noticed a Kingdom Hall with a "For Sale" sign in front of it.

I am wondering...... what are your views on why they would sell it?

It could be a small congregation with dwindling numbers and they have nmerged the remaining publishers with nearby congregations. It could be they have been made a real-estate offer they can not refuse. Or it could be they are selling and building a bigger hall as the congregation is expanding. Tell me where the hall is and I wil llet you know what I think.

It means 'back to the top of active topics'.

The Kingdom Hall where I used to go to was also for sale as a bigger hall with better parking is required for the local congregation. When the hall originally went up for sale a board went up in front of the hall from the local estate agents. I noticed this while driving past and reported it to the congregation Secretary - I knew it wasn?t customary to have a ?For Sale? notice up in front of a Kingdom Hall. I suppose it depends on the area but in the UK Kingdom Halls never have ?For Sale? notices outside because it ?doesn?t look good?. It gives the impression the local Witnesses aren?t doing well and are ready to up sticks and leave town! Anyway the Elder I contacted arranged for it to be removed, but as far as I know the hall is still for sale - you just need to contact the agents directly to get details.

Wel quite good prime real estate in RI but not sure about the numbers growing or declining there - so perhaps some other poster can give some info - I would suggets declining numbers and merging congregations - and selling the hall to raise money - but I am guessing

Was just thinking on this one. If the sold property makes a profit does the society pay taxes on this? Do not profit religious organizations pay capitol gains taxes on real estate investment profits? If not, much money is to be made by buying and selling property like this. If the value of the KH increases enough they can sell it and then turn it over and buy another piece of raw land--this would be a real estate investor's dream!. With the free building labor and and volume discounted materials to reinvest into the next property they would greatly increase their assets and make out like bandits! this is my post from the other KH for sale thread--does anybody know about the tax laws for these investments?
