As I wrote in JWD I sent my DA letter and am now officially out.

Since I have moved they have announced it in my current home congregation where nobody has ever heard of me.

But now I have been told that they usually inform the BOE of ALL the congregations you have ever attended and those decide if they announce it there as well.

Do you have any information on this? I have already contacted some data security officials if this is according to German law.

My understanding is that they make the announcement in the congregation that is in possession of your Publisher's Card.

When you DA yourself, you are technically DAing yourself from a given congregation, not the organization. This is why they say: "So and So has Disassociated him/her self from the Such and Such Congregation."

It has been a few years since I was an elder, but I remember a letter that said only in your current congregation are they to make an announcement and under no circumstances are they to have it announced in another congregation,, the reason for this was to avoid law suits.

But they may have changed this because I found out from my sister that they announced mine Df'n in some congregations that I was an elder along with my currant one even though it was 3000+ miles away. I guess they will make exceptions.

Sometimes they announce your name in other congregations around your area if you were a well-known member of the Witness community. (WT Love in action)

Rules chnage according to location. There was a time when Rutherford experimented onm Germany, before he implemented any chnages in America. William Schnell stated that he was instrumental in making organizational and theoligical chnages in Germany, and when he came to the USA, he found it was at least 6 months behind in "new light."

That being said, I remember a time when they would announce your name in the circuit and district you were in. If it was a DFing, they told you what it was "This is to inform the congregation that Minimus has been disfellowshipped from the cowchip congregation for picking his nose". If you DA'd yourself, They would actually read youer letter to the congregation or inform them why you DA'd yourself "This is to inform th congregation that Minimus had disassociated himself from the toejam congregation because he likes to waerr women's underwear."

They eventually did away with that, now they just have a talk on the "needs of the congregation shortly after someone gets DF'd, making it easy to know why. When the P.O. Goes before the congregation and gives a talk about fornication or adultery., you know why teh person got DF'd.

As was mentioned before, if you're a well known person, they'll notify everyone and their mothers about it! Not to mention all the gossip.

Actually since your congo is a separate corp they can only DA you from that congregation. Which makes me wonder can you make an off grid hall to reinstate the person to.

WHat most non elder jws don't realize is that the watchtower is in no way related to their hall. The whole game is set up that the words "jehovah's witnesses" and "elders" have credibility. Look at the pedophile situation. "Brother X just got out of jail for multipule counts of molestation, the elders didnt DF him so lets throw him a welcome home party".

I am telling you guys this is a great idea.

What I was told and I got this information first hand, is that the hall that DF's you is the one that has to reinstate you. This along with the earlier comments in this post seems to make sense. That each congregation, for legal purposes, is responsible for the members of its congregation. So technically you are only DF'd in that congregation, not by the whole organization.

Actually, that does seem to make sense because I remember I guy who was DF'd in our KH, moved away to Georgia or something and I never heard anything else about him until like two years later when they announced from our KH that he had been reinstated.

I was curious if anyone one would want to join me in DA'ing themselves on like on set date? Just think, if we could get like 100 people to all DA themselves in the same day writing a letter to Brooklyn and their local KH, it would be like a whole Congregation disappearing at one time, like poof.
