God's will...

All through our being raised as JW's, we've been told that we should sacrifice for the Kingdom. We've been todl that the more hours we put in, the more we will be blessed. We've been told that we should "add" by giving money, by giving time, by giving our whole lives over to this religion, and oftentimes, the very gifts that God gave us have been sacrificed and ignored.

The Governing Body ignores the power it has. Instead of encouraging people to be their very best, which is what Jesus would have said, they encourage people to become paranoid and isolationist. If they were REALLY smart they would encourage people to find out the best about themselves and encourage that for the furtherance of Kingdom interests. But no.. they don't. Here.. there are very many excellent writers, poets, music makers, and etc.

Our talents our given us by God. I have found that the majority of posters here have extremely gifted talents: art, music, acting, etc. We all were taught to play that down in the interest of furthering the Kimgdom. How many here have a good talent that they can't exhibit because they were witnesses? If so.. please show examples of your work when you got out.

I thought of that too dh, most will probably be too modest. If nothing else though others who know their friend's talents can talk about it, and if it is a matter of writing or a particular area of expertise it is directly evident by their posts. Of course sometimes this comes out in specific threads thanking individuals too, so obviously there is appreciation out there, both general and specific.

Well okay I'll start with something, I'm not sure if this is even a talent but maybe it will set a precedence that it doesn't have to be a big deal kind of thing and get others posting. Basically it's occurred to me that I can help friends relax when they have some kind of spiritual anxiety. Just the other day I was hanging out with a friend who was like going 'I'm at a crossroads and I think it's a significant point, and I want to mention this in case some direction comes from you' but he was all tied up in knots over how to express that, and not wanting to say the wrong thing. I essentially just went 'Dude, RELAX.' It's not that I induce coma or anything, but relaxing with it inevitably helps you deal with it better, if there is anything to deal with - or more just letting things work out by themselves. On the board I tend to make more specific points with posts, (I'd imagine it gets pretty boring if I was always going relax man..) but I definitely think this is also important - though unfortunately harder to get across online because it is largely nonverbal and works better in a real time exchange.

Alright, now someone has to have something that's more of a talent than this! Don't worry, we won't hate you because you're beautiful, and we'll keep the love bombs small.

    Hi Mark From Cali:

That is definitely a talent. I have a brother who can raise the ire of any meditating person within 4 miles. He actually is SO filled with nervous energy that it makes the Dali Lama quiver with anxiety from thousands of miles away. So I would think that it is a definite talent that you have that makes people feel relaxed and secure in your companionship. I have met persons like you and they are usually people that help others through exercise or meditative or psychological occupations.

My talent is art. Fortunately, I was taught to pursue it. I had a very liberal JW mother. I had art lessons. It has been such a joy to me. Attached I am including one of my pen and inks.
