each year they were showing us our totals as a "mirror"
mirroring how devoting we were....... mine last year was showing a total of 4 hours.....
to say that the elders were concerned was a understatement.....

I usually kept pretty good track on a calendar, but if I forgot to tally the numbers before the meeting, I had to guess at how many hours. When I was a pioneer, I had my time book with me at the meetings, so no fudging there. I wasn't meticulous about counting minutes. All of us just did a "close to" count, because of one of our CO's suggestion. He said "close to what you planned, is good enough".
Later when we were fading, it was totally a false report.
Disgustingly, I was totally honest in counting time. I figured Jehovah was watching me and I couldn't cheat at it! I'd even "save" any remaining minutes until the next month too.
Soo, how important WAS this? Can we picture on the "day" of reckoning---Jesus holding boxes of our time slips and a clipboard, checking off how many hours we "put in" all those years as we come face-to-face with him?
Will we expect that someone, say, like Mother Theresa will have been refused approval into paradise (whatever it means to you) because she never started a WTS bible study---or placed any WTS literature?
Riiiiiiight!

I despised that little slip of paper. Deep down I found it contradicting... and as you see from testimony on this board, enabled much dishonesty within people trying to please others.

You all have good replies!
Sunspot,
yes, when it boils down to it, you summed it up well!
I too felt that jehovah was watching me at all times, even when i filled out my time slip.
Thanks Ozziepost,
That was a good thread!
I must say that I am completely meticulous in filling out my time! That?s right. I record the two hours I spend on Saturdays attending the field service group, accompanying my elder dad to a couple of return visits (I pretty much learned how to sleep standing up), and going to the coffee drinking / doughnut eating place for the better part of an hour.
I mean, time is time, eh. It?s time that, theoretically, I could have been spending on a part-time second job making money. It?s really on my time, so I keep the old meter running.

girlfriend, if ever I met a person who needs a new hobby it is you!
I've been telling her that for years!!!
See Cari, it ain't just me!!!
And no, I never really cheated on my time. I was not the clock-Nazi you evidently were, but I tried to stay honest. I never would of dreamed of totally faking time like some here said they did.
No Apologies (of the "I want my 90 hours/month * 5 years back" class)
