My first thought when I saw the thread was "... I bet they're full of literature" and "..everyone needs toilet paper!"

However, it really doesn't matter what's behind the motivation if they actually do help people. Even if it is a delivery of toilet paper....

Well don't I feel like an idiot.........I didn't think they would but for one brief moment I actually thought "wow, that's great, maybe they're trying to change!" Okay, who's gonna throw the first stone at me before I'm cast out??!!

I was told by one sister in my congregation that they handed out coffee and blankets to all the people that came running across the bridge and were consoling people...........ya I know, that was also incredibly naive of me to think they'd actually help anyone..........so they locked all the doors to Bethel when the towers fell and all those people needed help? My, my, what a nice Christ-like attitute to have.

i know mary, we all hope the wts actaully has it in them to be humna beings, and they just keep proving us wrong. i know, it would have been a wonderful gesture if they had done it.

Okay JT---ya GOT me on this one, lol! I about broke a fingernail clicking on this topic so fast! You brat!

I do have something to pass along though......an exJW I know from my women's support group (who lives in FL) said that when she came home from somewhere this morning that the JWs were at her door.They had told her son that they didn't have a meeting today because of the storm, and they were out calling on their "neighbors", to ask ABOUT the storm, etc (the usual WTS BS to start a conversation).......this was in the Spring Hill area.

I didn't "go out" on holidays when I was a JW because I didn't think it was right to impose on those days......and I darn sure wouldn't have gone out on the day after a devastating disaster of Charley's magnitude! How many people want to stand around hashing over religion with strangers, with all that's going on with their families, etc?

Having been quite involved in the assistance after the Cedar Fire last October, I can say with confidence that the local JWs were not lending any assistance to the general population in San Diego.

Kingdom Hall gets washed out. All WT literature is ruined - send new literature. Especially on how the WTS can show them how they can live in paradise and never have to live through another hurricane.

Oh no wait maybe there is a nobler cause. The orange grove!!! Good lord what will they do? Send empty trucks to try to salvage as many of the oranges as possible. Hmmm that one sounds closer to right too.
