Haunting music

I watched Donnie Darko a few days ago (great film) and it had a fantastic song in it at the end that is incredibly haunting.

Called "Mad World" by Gary Jules, it's a remake of a Tears for Fears song. You can here it here:

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
    Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
    No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
    No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
    I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
    When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
    Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
    I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
    When people run in circles
It's a very very, mad world, mad world
    Enlarging your world, mad world

    Yes, very melancholy isn't it?!

I wonder how many JW childhoods this strikes a chord with?

This is one of those songs that I like a lot but I can't remember the title or who did it!

Yeah it's kind of a weird, etheral song that kind of fits the film. Odd movie by the way, it kind of stayed with me for a few days after I saw it.

Yes, very strange movie but 'touches' you.

I thought the song was by REM ... it sounds very like them.

It's one of my favourite movies as well. The song is a remake of a "Tears for Fears" song - it's very haunting indeed and fits the movie perfectly.

Gotta say, this music has really stuck with me the past couple of days.

It is haunting, but that usually appeals to me.

    Thanks for posting this.
