It is notable how much Jesus, our Lord and savior, is shunned in those talk outlines and as mentioned in one of minimus' threads, how little he is actually talked about in the WT publications.

Hear that, everyone? Watchtower has OK'd prayer, in this instance.

Tee hee!!! Prayer permission, everyone! We're permitted to hear a prayer! It's a good thing, too, 'cause if they hadn't given permission to pray, we wouldn't have prayed.... what this being a funeral and all, why on earth would people want to hear a prayer, unless permission had been given?

And while we're on the topic, shame on those worldly religions, who go around indicriminantly prayin, all willy-nilly, not even stopping to ask whether God's Channel of Communication has given permission for those prayers. Tsk tsk. Sucks to be them!

How many remember there was not a prayer or song before or after the public talk and a 15 minute gap between the PT and WT study allowed the "public" to leave. This way the "public" did not have to participate in any religious behavior. Many congregations had their meetings on Sunday and in the afternoon or evening so that the "public" could attend church and the PT.

If you remember this, you really an oldtimer.

Hey, maybe I like asking questions because it's ingrained in me with all those Public Talk titles.

I still have the outlines that I gave up to the late 90's . truth is that ,despite the titles, most of them are the same 1} State the propblem 2} Use body of the talk for counsell and advice to congo, 3} Motivating conclusion.. You could mix and match and few would notice.

Blondie was right. Few brothers wanted to spend time preparinfg a new one , so you only heard the ones in their repertoire. BTW When I started they were 55 minutes , not 45.

I did enjoy the experince though. It was the best part of the elders job, and you could count the time!
