BTW, I think City Fan is correct.

    Myelaine,

The scriptures in revelation have a message for today, thats why the are prophetic. to help us, to warn us. It is not just an unusual, highly suggestive history lesson.
It seems pretty stupid if God had a message for us today, for him to put it in criptic symbolic language that could be interpreted in a million different way all depending on what your agenda is. The book of revelation has thru out the centuries been given all kinds of interpretations,, not a very clear message if you ask me. But I guess that's the way this bible god is,, just full of contradictions.

    2 Peter 1:21

Prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Also the Harlot is NOT a church, it is an "ENTITY"

Every generation someone comes along and says something similar to this and in the course of time that someone is always proved wrong.

The WTS has, for over 120 years, claimed this and time and time again has been wrong and had to change their vision. I think it highly unlikely that anything that they say about what the scriptures say about our time today is true.

    myelaine,

I've lost count of the number of prophets who have posted on this board about the 'last days'. We've also had a messiah who only recently stopped posting. I've read dates set for Armageddon that have come and gone. I've read all kinds of arguments from these posters about who 'Babylon the Great' actually is, including New York, the Illuminati, The Catholic Church and the Watchtower Society. All these posters are convinced they are right.

In my opinion, prophecy is much easier after the event. Just look at Daniel 11:40 onwards where the writer has a go at real prophecy! He was fine until that moment.

If you're saying that you think 'Babylon the Great' is the Watchtower Society and Governing Body then try to remember that the WTS is still a pretty small and insignificant corporation in a very large world. I've given you a few things to think about but try and read a little about Roman history in the first century to give yourself a background to the kind of times in which Revelation was written.

And Frankie and Funky - I'm glad someone agrees with me!

    Funkyderek,

Keep digging with an honest heart, curiosity is a good thing to have. God bless your efforts.

Forget about an honest heart. Try being intellectually honest. That involves using your brain, actually thinking about what people say to you and coming up with intelligent answers. Just repeatedly posting the same risible nonsense without thinking may endear you to your sky-god, but those of us who live on earth find it quite annoying.

    Funkyderek,

I am sorry that you find me annoying, I am pointing you in a direction so you can find the answer yourself, if you want to. Your opinion should be your own, not mine. I want you to have your own opinion.Maybe it will be like mine, maybe it wont.

Why are the merchants that sell the wares of the Harlot devastated? Does anyone want the merchants wares if they came from the Great Harlot?

One thing I am certain of, Revelation has nothing to do with a small (approx. 6m strong, last count) cult that's based out of Brooklyn.

I do seem to recall that there were over 100,000 martyrs, in the first century, though.
Perhaps the figure of 144,000 was based on an approximation of the day.

    Little Toe,

The Harlot represents the End of the worst kind of spiritual adultery. The kind that steals peoples right to choose the blood of Jesus. Is there any other "religion" that purposefully steals this right from the people, right now? How long has the WBTS had this agenda? Almost since the beginning of the organization. Now it is a written law. No one takes the emblems if they are not "elected" and the GB has made sure to cultivate the idea that all the "elected" are all ready chosen. No blood for YOU! No cross for YOU! No rebirth for YOU!

    michelle

The Harlot is drunk with the blood of the holy ones and of the prophets. The life's blood of the holy ones and the prophets was to preach the blood of Christ for everyone. The WBTS has, with great zeal, taken the blood of Jesus away from God's children in these last days.

Rev. 18:12-14 The Harlot had every "good thing" at its disposal, it desired fine fruit. It was all taken away, it will not dispense "good things" anymore. No one will find "good things" in Her after Her distruction. That's why the merchants of the Harlot can't sell their wares, even though they have a full stock, no one wants their(The Harlots) wares.

Sorry, Myelaine, I think it would be incredibly myopic to focus on the WTS alone.
Are they the only ones who fit the bill of the Harlot, even if you feel you much concentrate on the modern day?

"Last days" theology makes me cringe...
