Do You Still Think & Act Like A Witness??

One of the criticisms I see on this board, especially if one points out a similarity between JWs and JWD or other similar discussion boards, is that a person is still seeing things in the eye of a Jehovah's Witness. What's your take on that??

I don't think I think and act like a JW at all. An exception is when it comes to not being able to pray. I could never easily pray as a JW. They made it seem fruitless unless you were damn near perfect. I guess they did a good job ingraining that thought in my head and so I still rarely pray. Thank you, Gov Bod for ruining a good outlet.

I'm thinking about how we are sometimes told that we're "still thinking or acting like a JW" type of comment. This comes out, usually when we are thought to be making a criticism of somebody's argument.

Well, yeah when I make comments about pornography. My feelings about it have nothing to do with God or JWs though.

I actually find that a large number of newbie ex's don't actually act and behave like witnesses. Many of them seem to go through some sort of delayed adolescence when they hit the boards and sublimate all their elder hang-ups onto the nearest thing available, which is generally the admin of whatever ex-dub board they are on.

Not nice for me to say. Unfortunately it's true.

Conversely some could say they are just relating to their life experience and that the people who take exception to their comments with such a vengance are the ones who have the hang-up.

It's all about persepective I suppose, eh eman?

Most people have a very hard time believing at this point in my life that I ever was a dub, so I would have to say "no" to that question mini.

I think people are people. If you WERE once a JW, then you were at one time, a JW. Of course, many of your experiences in later life could be comparable to the old JW days. What I don't care for is when I hear people make complaints like, "You're acting just like an elder or a publisher". Sometimes the ones that say this are the ones that shouldn't be throwing any stones.....
