I was told by a very active witness, that since JW's also suffered along with the Jews during the holocaust, apparently damages were paid out. The society manages the account with the survivors money in it, and supposedly looks for the survivors, or family of the survivors to get them their money. Does anyone know anything about this.

it doesn't sound likely to me that they are actively looking for these people, because the society have so much info on their members that finding them if they were active would be very easy for them, but then there were only a few hundred jw's involved in the holocaust as far as i'm aware, so how many can still be alive? i wonder.

If they *are* making sure that people claim what they're entitled to, then good... but I wonder what would happen if the survivors or the relatives claiming on their behalf were disfellowshipped or disassociated since?

if the survivors or the relatives claiming on their behalf were disfellowshipped or disassociated since

    Very good question.

Besides perhaps a list of names they may have, I wonder what they are doing for outreach, to let people know that the funds are available and that they should inquire as to how to receive them. Then, if some never recieve their money, what happens to it, does the society just get to keep it?

Good link Valis. Wonder what they mean by the Swiss connection? I just kept reading one part over and over "Unlike other victims, most witnesses had a choice" The jews had no choice. Then the part about the educational and academic presentations, wonder where and when those were done.

In the German Kingdom Ministries on the CD-ROM I found two entries as Announcements:

the first was of December 1998: persons who were sentenced for anti-military reasons in WWII were granted 7'500 DM by the government and the Society gave this reminder that the dateline was December 31st, 1998. They also gave the adress. Maybe they wanted the JW to think "Without the Society I would have forgotten about it so I give them the money."

The second entry is of May 2001 and informs of the foundation of the "Jehovah’s Witness Holocaust-Era Survivors Fund, Inc" and announced an upcoming BOE-letter.

I WONDER IF THE GERMAN OFFICIALS ARE AWARE THAT J RUTHERFORD SUPPORTED THE POLITICAL EFFORTS OF THE NAZI'S (BEFORE THE WAR)

    ANYTHING FOR THE DOLLAR!
