CRR, I get the idea that you consider "old school goth" To be goth. I do as well. MM is "industrial" for the most part, although there is some cross over here. The younger kids who call bands like korn "goth" are way off base. Is korn metal, or is it goth? It's nu-metal, and has little in common with either.
I know what you mean. As is, we already have a microscopic goth scene in the Twin Cities, and most of the maybe 500 people in our scene are children of the Korn.
What bands would you consider goth?
Inkubus Sukkubus, Rasputina, Switchblade Symphony, The Last Dance, Feilds of the Nephilim, at least those are the recent bands I consider to be goth.

Yup. In the same vein. Although I would'nt say fields of the nephilim are recent. Theyve been around since 1984. i also like the Sisters of Mercy, early Cult, Bauhaus, Joy division, love and rockets, etc.
I also love industrail. Well, except nine inch nerds, not a big fan of them

I like him, he's different. He's not just a clone, even if there are shades of Alice Cooper ( I liked Alice Cooper too). I don't see anything wrong with being an attention-seeking personality, it would be boring as hell if nobody was. And it's hard to see how ELSE he would make a buck, I mean, even without the makeup and tranny clothes I have a feeling he's a very wierd person, probably too wierd to work a normal job. His songs are intelligent, which makes a nice change. His videos scare the living shit out of me, but he's a good antidote to those endless boybands and their songs.

Marilyn Manson is one of the biggest poseurs ever. Trent Reznor exposed him and his feable motives (to be simply a Hollywood schmoozer) openly a few years ago in the song Starf*ckers Inc. He's got a nice Carly Simon "You're So Vain" nod in it.
